Just more reason to own compilations of some of the best franchises out there.

You may know that the Ratchet & Clank Collection launches on August 28. But what you probably didn't know is that two more totally excellent Collections are going to hit store shelves that very same day…

As revealed at the PlayStation Blog , Sony will release a new series called the PlayStation Collections, which begins with the aforementioned Ratchet & Clank , God of War and inFamous . Here's the R&C confirmation , and here's what will be included in the other two Collections:

God of War Saga

inFAMOUS Collection

Remember, the inFamous games don't require a high-def upgrade; they already were in HD when they originally released (both games were for the PS3). On the other hand, the first two GoW titles are older; they hit on the PS2 during the pre-HD days. Anyway, for only $29.99, these are fantastic collections. Also, they say "select titles from the Collections" will be available individually (without the extras) on the PlayStation Store.

No 3D support for GoW3 and it's $39.99. So is inFAMOUS Collection.

Good deal. I like the gold coloring. It be even better if the gold circle shaped emblem served as a place holder for a foil wrapped chocolate coin to be attached to every copy. yuuuum =p

anyhow, I hope this means Origins gets dropped to $10 somewhere.

Im curious how phyiscal copy collectors feel about this. I mean, it's something of a treasure to have each individual game bound as it's own entity, right? But to sandwhich each individual epic together on one disc sort of normalizes the value weight and presence of each entry. It's somewhat like those bargain bin movie collections you see at Walmarts for $5. Here, here's 5 great movies thrown together in one value sized offering. … come on. buy it. we're desperate for the money =p

anyhow, I personally like the idea of saving shelf space and yet still having control over the content in physical form. I just suspect physical collectors may feel a little chafed by such a collection. But i dunno, just a thought.

As a gaming collector(or at least for this serious collector)I say that a collection's never complete until you have every game on your shelf, so I just put any dual, triple or quadruple, collections in that one franchise's series, at the very end of their other games on the shelf.

But if I start running out of run as more & more multi-game collections come out, in the future I just might have to give these new HD collections their very own shelf apart from the rest.

Now that's for physical copy's, but for D/L games I won't buy them unless there's no disc version, & I'm hyped up for that particular game.

I'm surprised they didn't announce this sooner. I would like this a lot more if origins was disc based. I wonder if infamous festival of blood will be on disc?

The more gb I can save the better kupo!

I'm sure Festival of Blood will be on the disc. The first 2 inFamous games weren't very large games. I know the second one was just under 8 gigs. With Festival of Blood being only 3 gigs I'm sure they included it..It's weird though..I could've swore I saw Festival of Blood being free on the PSN now..

slugga_status,

I think inFamous 2 was around 15GB. I got it from PS+ and that's how big it was. Not sure if there's a difference between the disc and the downloadable version but yeah.

Awesome!

But just so you know
God of War: Origins Collection will just be a PSN voucher – not on a disk.

These sound like a great deal, but I just wanted to make a correction. It's $39.99 for both collections. Either way it sounds great!
