Ubisoft's new proprietary engine on display in the upcoming Assassin's Creed III , is quite the piece of technology.

The publisher showed it off in the latest trailer, in which they talk about how AnvilNext has allowed them to create a vast, highly detailed world that is more authentic than ever before.

More than 2,000 NPCs can be on the screen in a single sequence, and we should be immersed in one of the most believable environments in recent memory. They're saying Connor is "the most detailed third-person action character" ever thanks to this fresh technology, and they also remind us of all the new combat maneuvers he'll have at his disposal.
