Grand Theft Auto III hits the PSN on Tuesday . We're not sure about Vice City yet.

But there's another nostalgic way to relive the greatness of Tommy Vercetti and Co. Somebody has decided to turn the final mission – the one that essentially mirrors the last scene in "Scarface," with the primary difference being that Tommy gets away – into something much…older. The PS2 version would look old by today's standards, but how's about a Commodore 64 version?

Yes, kiddies, the Commodore 64. One of the earlier computers that actually played video games and if you ask the right person, they'll tell you just how much they loved it. Would Vice City have worked? Nah, the world's just too big. But mission-wise…okay, it wouldn't have worked there, either, but this is still damn cool.

To think we did our gaming on machines like that, for hours upon hours… 😀

(Never had a C64 though. I had a Oric 1 instead, later to be replaced by an Amiga)

Yes, an incredible thought. I miss those days… Facebook and Twitter did not exist and things were simpler…

That was ace that. Had a Commodore 64 infact still got it and got 2 of them the chunky one and and the slim one, had over 600 games on them. Hours upon hours spent playing on them and in those days games punished you no extra lives no save points no continues it was true gaming 🙂

I haven't played the game (shocking I know) and I've never used a Commodore, but dang this really reminds me of the good ol' MS-DOS days. This video is amazing, those 8-bit days were amazing. Ahhh nostalgia. it's powerful stuff :'D

i bought all 3, 3, vice city and san andreas off steam not so long ago.
shame they look so fugly!
i wish R* would remaster the games in HD, i mean come on this is not your average franchise.
this is one of THE most popular, best selling and best franchises ever made!
seriously cant understand why R* wont do a HD remake, i mean yea their busy with R* north but surely they can find someone to do it for them!
imagine vice city in cry engine 3!

I always wanted the C64. I had all the gaming consoles from around that time and remember always bugging my parents to get me the C64 because it had a keyboard. That was the selling point for me back then, a keyboard ffs lol. Still had too much fun with the Atari 2600/NES/Sega Master System, my parents were probably right in telling me to feck off.

I still have my Commodore 64/128. I still use it, on occasion. It was a lot of fun to see the video. It would have been a blast to play it on the C64. I use Atari 2600 joysticks to play games. My fave game on it was Miner 2049er. I would love that one to come to the PSN!

Nice to see so many Commodore fans. I too was a big fan of the computer, and migrated to an Amiga 500, 2000 and then an Amiga 1200. I recently sold my A1200 to a collector in the US of A…

For those interested, Commodore scene demo's are still being made for the machine. You would be quite amazed at what they are managing to squeeze out of this machine, such was the engineering marvel it was.

Head over to pouet dot com and search for Commodore c64 productions, you can download demo images and run them through your C64 emulator if you have on your PC etc; or alternatively, head over to YouTube and watch the C64 demo's as they were run at the scene parties. Amazing stuff…
