Most every great game has a great soundtrack. The experience just wouldn't be the same without effective, captivating music.

And if you understand and appreciate the importance music plays in a game, you might want to pick up the Darksiders II soundtrack, with an original score by BAFTA award-winning composer Jesper Kyd.

Sumthing Else Digital has announced that the invigorating two-disc set will release alongside the highly anticipated action title on August 14. You'll also be able to grab it digitally through the Sumthing Else Music Works store, Amazon MP3, iTunes, and other digital music sites. If you're excited, you can pre-order it right now at Amazon.

Jesper Kyd has provided some fantastic music for franchises like Hitman and Assassin's Creed , and his score for Darksiders II "combines dark ethereal themes and melodic fantasy that enrich the player's cinematic journey through each of the game's unique realms." If you didn't know, the aforementioned sequel could be one of next month's biggest releases; players will adopt the role of Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and the story "runs parallel to the events of the original."

If you liked the first title, chances are, you'll love the second.
