Well, if the official trailer said it was coming, why shouldn't we believe it?
Unfortunately, Rockstar has confirmed that it was a mistake. A Gamescom spokesperson has told CVG that despite the bit of Grand Theft Auto V footage that found its way into a Gamescom 2012 trailer, the fact is that GTAV won't be in attendance at the show. Too bad.
Evidently, the footage was included "in error" and Gamescom communications manager Franko Fischer confirmed that in fact, "Rockstar Games is not scheduled and has never been scheduled to exhibit at Gamescom 2012." As of now, all GTAV footage has been removed from the Gamescom trailer. At the same time, Fischer said the show will still boast "the most spectacular world premieres," so at least we can look forward to those.
We're just wondering if GTAV was indeed scheduled for GC 2012 at one time, and since then has withdrawn from the event. It isn't a fun thing to think about, because there are already rumors circulating about why the game is taking a little longer than anticipated…
