We all saw this coming, didn't we? Sure we did.
According to a new Variety report , a feature film based on Ubisoft's blockbuster Assassin's Creed franchise is in the works.
Michael Fassbender will star in the film and also co-produce it; you may have seen Fassbender in movies like "X-Men: First Class," "Shame," "Haywire," and "Prometheus," and he has fresh roles in the upcoming "Twelve Years a Slave" and "The Counselor." And given that AC has sold over 30 million units since arriving on the scene in 2007, it makes sense to pursue a big-screen adaptation. Here's what Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet had to say:
"Michael Fassbender was our first choice…Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor."
Ubisoft will develop the film independently so as to "maintain greater creative control," so we're hoping the movie remains faithful to the series. Personally, I'd much rather play as a bad-ass assassin but hey, some haven't caught on to the fact that active participation is often vastly superior to passive watching. Besides, the movie could be good.
Fassbender is a good choice… Dude is badass… He was also in 300 and in Inglorious bastards if i'm not mistaking
Of course this will be badass, he's an Irishman ffs 🙂
and speaks german!
Hmmmm, his language could very well be because he was actually born in Germany, though his mother is Irish.
Raised in Killarney, County Kerry since he was two years old and his Irish mother is a great-great-niece of Michael Collins, an Irish leader during the War of Independence (you should look that name up, Ireland would be a very different place without him). He's Irish (with a German father but that's were him being German stops).

Fassbender is amazing, just get a good director and it should be a great movie.
Something that isn't entirely clear to me is exactly who he'll be playing apart from the "iconic hooded hero." Will he be Desmond? Altair? Ezio? All three?
I think he's a good enough actor to pull that off if they want to go that route. I even think he may be good enough to make Desmond interesting, which is saying something.
It will probably have nothing to do with Desmond.
Meh, I've seen plenty of great movies based on books. Eventually we will get something wonderful based on a videogame.
I think they could be great if they are done right! Usually the mess the story up somehow…
At least it doesn't sound like a Hollywood takeover like the bizarre Uncharted movie almost was.
For me it's a pointless exercise to begin with. That's why there's so much trouble with doing it right. You take the interactivity your taking out what made the original work unique and special in the first place. The complexities of that just doesn't register to the currently broken studio system.
At first glance I thought the title said
Assassin's Creed MOVE In The Works
I was like, move game? Sounds cool
but this is good too!
Watch Shame if you're unsure about this guy's acting abilities.
He did an amazing job in Prometheus, really felt like he was an android.
What was he ashamed of?
What LV said and Hunger too.
As long as it stays independent it could be good. Won't hold my breath but at least I don't love the series so a bad movie won't cause me pain.
Woah this is surprising. Good surprising though.
sweet!
i really hope this turns out good!
and i mean movie good, not game to movie adoption good!
so many disasters out there, like the movie to game stereotype its about time we banish the game to movie stereotype!
i dont have much hope though, ubisoft still let PoP out which was not doom, but it was not exactly avatar either!
if theres 1 game out there though that should become a movie its R&C!
that would translate really well to a movie!
insomniac has always been chasing pixar quality animation, so i think its about time they started chasing pixar to do a R&C movie!
that would be freaking sweet!
