Max Payne 3 Local Justice DLC, Other Content Set For July 3

Max Payne 3 is easily one of the year's best and unsurprisingly, Rockstar has long-term plans to support this bad boy.

The developer has announced an official date for the first downloadable content pack: Local Justice will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on July 3, and on the PC on July 17.

This first batch of extra content features three new maps (55th Battalion HQ, Imperial Palace, and Departure Lounge), a new weapon (M4 assault rifle), a new item (Light Fingers for faster reloads), a new multiplayer faction (Sao Paulo Police), and additional trophies and achievements. This first piece of DLC was initially expected to arrive this month, so maybe you're a little irked at having to wait longer.

But in appreciation for your patience, the Justice Pack can be had for only $5.99 on the PlayStation Network or 480 Microsoft Points. However, this deal is only good for the first week; afterward, the Pack will go to its original retail price of $7.99 on PSN and 640 Microsoft Points. Also, Rockstar has revealed that all that pre-order and retailer-specific DLC (which is all part of the Rockstar Pass program, if you're interested) will be available to download on July as well.

But this is only the beginning. Rockstar has seven total pieces of DLC slated for Max Payne 3 : the Disorganized Crime map pack, the Deathmatch Mode in Heaven pack, the Hostage Negotiation map pack, and the New York Minute co-op pack are forthcoming this summer. And for the fall, we've got the Painful Memories map pack and the Trickle Down Economics map pack. …okay, I'll stop saying "map pack" now.

I hate the DLC trend this generation has brought about.

You don't like spending extra money on things that will entertain you for 30 minutes? You don't like having to spend money on things if you want to have access to the same firepower as your competitors?

I love DLC.

They're not forcing it on you. If you don't like dlc, don't get it. It's just meant to add an extra to the game

Yah but when you're playing multiplayer and your opponents have extra weapons that you don't have because you didn't buy the DLC, I have a problem with it. I also have a problem with DLC content that is overpriced for a short amount of entertainment. It's called nickel and diming.

So just because they sent extra cash on a new weapon, you're inclined to have it too? Sorry, but life doesn't work that way. And it's hardly "nickel and diming" if you DON'T have to pay for it. As far as prices goes, yeah, some of them are definitely overpriced, but then again think of the amount of work it took to make that content, as well as the effort it took to make sure it runs well with the rest of the game.

Yah you're right, in life when people can't win they just throw money at it and hope for the best. Keep that away from games please.

I don't think unbalancing the game for players that didn't buy DLC is ok at all, but to each their own. This is especially the case with fighting games. Someone said it pretty well in the past, but I forget who.

Imagine you buy a chess board, and then suddenly your opponent takes out an extra piece and says "I bought this as extra content, so I'm gonna use it. Too bad you don't have one."

Does that sound fair? No it really isn't. That's the problem I have with multiplayer DLC. It can break an experience for people who didn't pay for DLC.

As for single player DLC, you're right, we don't have to buy it, but I wish the quality was better. I don't mind huge expansions like the ones in Fallout, as they are actually quite good sometimes, but ones that are short and boring just scream cash grab.

Give it a year, I'm sure we'll hear something about a GOTY edition of Max Payne 3. I'll grab that instead.

I've heard this game is fantastic! But, like most single player games, I'm waiting for a big ol' price drop.

Red Dead Redemption is now $28 preowned. A little patience and I can get Max Payne 3 that cheap too.

and developers wonder why people complain when games get MP!
since when is it illegal for games to get expansion packs, or some SP DLC?
come on R*, i wish they would do the spin off expansion packs for this like they did the ballad and L&TD!
made GTAIV actually feel like a totally different game!
and in a good way!
