Syndicate was a pretty good game, especially from a cooperative standpoint, but unfortunately, EA says it "didn't pay off."
Reboots have been big this generation, and EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau believes "numerous brands" are primed for a comeback. In speaking to CVG , Gibeau said one example of a successful reboot was the high-flying SSX , which met with considerable critical acclaim. But Starbreeze's production…well…
"Syndicate was something that we took a risk on. It didn't pay off – it didn't work.
But in general it doesn't change my appetite for wanting to go look in the library and see what we have and maybe bring back some IPs for the next-generation. That's the nature of the business; some stuff works, some stuff doesn't."
There certainly are multiple older titles that deserve a new look in a new generation, don't you think? And as Gibeau said, some will work and some won't; that's just the nature of the business. Personally, I don't see this as "rehashing" anything as most times, the new efforts are just completely and entirely different than the original title(s). Such is the way of rapidly advancing technology.
