Details remain sparse but all you need to know is this: The zombie hunting will continue.
Dead Island did well on the sales charts and garnered quite the loyal following, so most assumed publisher Deep Silver would deliver a follow-up effort. Rumors have persisted but it wasn't until today that we got the official news.
Deep Silver has indeed announced a "new entry" in the Dead Island franchise; it's currently in development at Techland and will be delivered for "consoles and PC." It will be called Dead Island Riptide but beyond this, we're a little hazy on the details; estimated release date and other information will be coming at a later time. For now, feel free to check out the game's official site ; it doesn't have any new info for Riptide but we're sure it will at some point…
Dead Island was a rambunctious, kill-'em-all type game with lots of replay potential, and it was tons o' fun for multiple players. Here's hoping Techland takes the next step, cleans up the production a little, and gives us a AAA sequel worthy of our cash and time.
