Assassin’s Creed III Gameplay Debut: The Cost Of Our Freedom

If you're an Assassin's Creed fan, you'll probably love the gameplay premiere for the upcoming third installment.

…hell, if you're a gamer at all you'll probably love this.

Asssassin's Creed III tackles the Revolutionary War and a complex, conflicted hero who is half Native, half British. Going by the name of Connor, he fights for freedom, and that doesn't necessarily mean he has to choose a side. In this gameplay debut – which features "pre-alpha gameplay" – we watch as Connor runs, climbs, and fights in a harsh, unforgiving terrain filled with snow and bullets. The whole thing will give you goosebumps.

The video also gives you incentive to pre-order the hotly anticipated and potentially groundbreaking title at GameStop. Those who already did have received a steelbook case for the game, but now you can also get some extra content: Access to a new single-player mission, the Lost Mayan Ruins, and a new unlockable weapon, the sawtooth sword. Nice!

I get the feeling this isnt the last Asassins creed, like mw3 wasn't the last COD.

No chance of that, you can expect one every year.

Awesome gameplay except, I don't like Connor's voice. Nothing wrong with it per say, but there's nothing cool or intriguing about it. Maybe I'm expecting too much – but as much as were "done" with Ezio and his Italian background, his voice acting was excellent.

Still have high hopes ofcourse, and hopefully they play around even more than what we just saw with moving within and having sequences within buidlings.

I know what you mean about his voice, but I thought the Italian ones were pretty awful and very "Mario".

Looking pretty epic I must say. I don't think that would be a great time in history to be walking the streets in a hooded cloak though.

Maybe this will be the one to make me a fan.

Looks good. Fan of the series, but always seemed to be less than impressed. This time I think I might be impressed!

I'm excited for it. I kind of hope this wraps up Desmond's story though, it's been 5 years since the first.

Ladies and gentleman, I kid you not when I say, I'm going to tear this game apart. By the time I finish playing it, you'd need some tongs to take this bad boy out my PS3 bescause it will be SMOKIN'.

Wow… flappin' amazing. Definitely glad I finally caved and became one of the few and proud. I held out on playing the series until about three weeks ago. Now I have them all and this on pre-order.

I was wondering how they were going to do it in America without tall buildings, but from what I've seen so far, I'm impressed. I've played AC 1&2 but passed on the others, but I'll probably pick up 3 just to see where this story goes..

I agree on the voice though, the voice actor in this one doesn't sound quite right to me. It would be neat if they added someone in that has a Native American accent to it instead. Not the thick accent, but just enough of a twang to give you the idea of his descendents.

Maybe it's just me, but that whole part of the speech about being totally free It's would sound so much better coming from a Native American.. But maybe that's just the way I'm picturing it…

Unless we see a few surprise releases, this is already my GOTY (or maybe Borderlands 2, ME3, etc)

In case anyone doesn't want to preorder from Gamestop you can also preorder from Best Buy and you get a "Ghost of War" single player mission and unlock the Pontiac's War Club. Awesome to have choices but I hate when everyone has their own "exclusives" and I have to choose. Oh well! Anyways, personally I can't wait for this game!!

Wow, this is my most anticipated PS3 game now! You can tell they have spent a ton of time on this game. Bioshock Infinite was my most anticipated until it was delayed until 2013. Gravity Rush is my most anticipated Vita game. Almost forgot about Borderlands 2!!! Wow, not sure which game I am most looking forward to! What a great conundrum!

Well, after reading forums about the trailer and screenshots being anti-Brit… I can say yep. lol. Regardless of Ubi's assurance they do come across as such. I mean really, it IS the American Revolution and the Americans did repel the Brits… what did everyone expect from Ubi. I would respect them even more if they just be honest and say its its because of the context.

Although it would have been interesting to see a character working for the Brits discover Templars on both sides attempting to create a new nation by creating a conflict with ambitions of controlling the world with a new empire. Maybe Ubi will do that. lol. But doubtful.

As for the anti-brit thing, well, it was obviously predictable but we shall see if Ubi has some hidden cards to play to create some twists. Others have pointed out that Ubi is a French Canadian company. Yep, I am Canadian and can confirm that. lol. And yes there is no love of the English in Quebec. But whether that REALLY is something people should consider I don't know. Games can be political and have been, but again, the context dictates an anti-brit position. That said no once during the American Revolution was innocent. In all wars and events that lead up to them, both commit atrocities or injustice, just comes down to who wins and writes history.

Anyway, Ubi probably has more to reveal before launch that should broaden the story and its theme. If Ubi doesn't that will be when I am disappointed. I hate games and gameplay when it gets too predictable…. before I have even played them.

The dialogue in the vid was flat and not engaging. Seemed thrown together but I think many don't care. Its early days. Its the game and gameplay dynamics that matter .

And no its not the last AC. Its called making money and Ubi already has hinted as to what they want to do. Well, vaguely. Again though, they might surprise us and it probably will be next gen. Before that I am sure will will see umpteen additions to AS3 to expand the story and most of it will mulitiplayer maps. Online commerce works.

Lets see what they do.

Keep Playing.
