One of our most anticipated new games has to be Dishonored , the blend of action, stealth, and role-playing that could become one of this year's best.

And the reason we can say "this year's" best is because according to new retail evidence , the ambitious and promising title might arrive on September 25.

This is based on information from Canadian stores Future Shop and Best Buy, even if the date has since been removed. When publisher Bethesda announced Dishonored last year, they gave it a vague release window of "TBA 2012," so maybe this date is accurate. If you haven't yet checked out that awesome debut trailer , you're definitely missing out; it really had a positive impact among gamers, even if the development studio doesn't really have a big history.

Here's hoping they deliver, because this blend of gameplay could prove to be downright intoxicating.

Looks promising, but September is bad for me. Both DOA5 and TTT2 launch 5 days later, and possibly VF5 FS may be seen around the same time.
I suspect, though, Tecmo may delay or push forward DOA5 to avoid losing visibility while Tekken flaunts it's stuff.
Personally, I'm more excited for DOA, even being the Tekken fan I am.

Was very impressed with the trailer! Looks like a Bioshock Infinitesque shooter. I am impressed and glad that Arkane is control and Bethesda is only the distributor. This should be a quality title not some bug fest!

Here I was, preparing to be a smartass and hit you both with a handful of other steampunk titles but then it struck me: This really is the first steampunk-themed game, isn't it? Cause all the titles that popped up in my head were only movies. The closest to a steampunk game must have been the BioShock games and they are not really steampunk either?

This realization is what I needed in order to get *really* excited about this game too. Cause up until now I thought it looked like an attempt to make "their Assassins Creed". But this is a steampunk game, damnit! That's AWESOME! 🙂

Deus Ex is not steampunk. Not sure what subgenre it belongs to but I would call Deus Ex straight, plain Sci-Fi I think. Definitely not Steampunk.

But I am unsure how to define steampunk, I just "know it when I see it".
Typical for steampunk is a blend of old and new, like a Jules Verne novel. Key word is "steam" – typically fantastic machines powered by steam, often set in an alternative, screwed up version of old days. That's why I wonder if not BioShock should not at least partially qualify as Steampunk.

Anyhow, Dishonored is *very* steampunk, no doubt.

It's a big part of why Final Fantasy VII was so great 🙂

Beamboom go ahead and list your movies, I'd like to see them if I haven't.

Beamboom,

If I remember right, "Damnation" was steampunk, but most reviewers wound up crucifying the game.

And it got a lowly 3.9 rating from PSXE too.

The first movie that pops up in my head is Wild Wild West. But I bet you have seen that one.

The Prestige is a very cool movie. It has at least steampunk *elements* to it, although I'm not sure if a steampunk purist would classify it as a steampunk movie.

Van Helsing is another movie I imagine could be called a mix of fantasy and steampunk. Also a cool movie, imo.

Speaking of fantasy/steampunk mixtures, I guess The Golden Compass also falls into that category. Although more fantasy than steampunk.

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen: Man it's a long long time since I saw that one, but if I remember correctly it is mucho steampunk.

I finish off with one of the most steampunked movies I can think of: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It must be seen. It received mixed critics, but I thought it was really, really cool. Very stylish. And very Steampunk.

I was reading up on this game and the premise sounds sick!!! YOu can basically take control of peoples minds if you're withing a certain distance from them. Even a rat or bird!!! SO if you're trying to get into a small space, just take control of a rat and crawl in. SOunds super cool. THere are supposed to be all sorts of different ways to approach a situation.
