Ben-DutkaWell, at least some gamers outside Japan get a snazzy PlayStation 3.
For whatever reason, colored game systems seem to be almost exclusive to Japan. While other regions get a few colors here and there, they never quite get the same cosmetic selection.
But finally, the scarlet red PS3 arrives in the UK this month, so that's something. As noted by Eurogamer , the console will be the 320GB version and of course, it'll come with a red DualShock 3 controller. Amazon will have it for £250 on April 27, and Play.com lists a May 4 release with a £240 price tag. Other retailers will have the machine "at their convenience." As for that blue PS3, which is still Japan-exclusive? Nope, Sony UK won't be doing that. Again, as to why…we have no idea.
You can always fork over a hefty chunk and get your PS3 colored, though. ColorWare will take care of that for ya, if you're so inclined.
I would like a red console over here in the states. I'm jealous.

it would be sweet if i could have a green playstation the same color as that controller i cant seem to find anywhere. has anyone found one of the fabled green controllers. i want one.
There is a green PS3 controller available on Amazon. Just search for PS3 controller on Amazon click on any of the colors that come up, then you will see the option of black, blue, green, pink, silver, white, urban camouflage, or MLB. Is that the one you are looking for?
all i find is over priced ones. not paying a hundred bucks to some online dealer for a dualshock 3 that doesnt look right.

Oh, sorry I didn't bother to look at the price. I'm pretty sure Amazon used to sell them for the same price as the other DS3's. I guess Sony quit making the green controller? I agree that the green doesn't look right anyway.

Those green Sony branded ones have become rare(hunter green I think).
But f you're willing to try a non-Sony brand wireless controller that looks exactly the same, there's a company that make them in all different colors. And they're only $20 bucks, and with FREE shipping.
They do have a green one, although it's probably a lot lighter than what you want, but maybe you can contact them with your color needs.
(BTW, I can't vouch for them either way because I haven't bought one yet, but some of the people who left comments seemed to like theirs.

its all good helghast. its not even amazon that is selling them for a hundred bucks. i buy off amazon all the time. but i dont trust this other company that is selling them. besides i dont even know if it will be a real ds3.

So I'm guessing color ware doesn't do handhelds? I took a look and didn't see any.
You would think that Sony would offer the different colored PS3s to all regions. They would sell like gangbusters here. They should do that for the holidays.

I've never understood Sony's logic behind offering japan color options but never the same options for all other regions even GT5 is extremely popular in the west they still didnt offer the bundle anywhere else. I bet the vita will have a new color at the end of the year in japan only of course.
If there's one thing I always have thought Sony has been so good at, it's colours. They seem to always pick that elegant nuance of any color.
They might look flashy, classy, elegant, discrete… *Never* cheap. Like all the PSP colours that was available here in Norway over the years, white, black, blue, green, silver, etc… Or the different Dualshocks now… They ALL look good.

Like I said long ago when PSXE was using their red PS3 as a give-away, Sony should set up a 1-800 number just for special order colors for their consoles, hand-helds & controllers.
Just look at all the different colored PSP's that came out in Japan, there are 14 of them that I know of.
Hell, I got the Japanese Monster Hunter bundle just because that PSP is so gorgeous just to look at….a metallic brown with 2 black dragons across the front & another 1 on the back of it. And even the case, & the carry bag that came with it were a 2-tone brown & Tan canvas, with black dragons across them too.
BTW, The only thing I have to get used to with it is, that on the Japanese model PSP's, the X & O button are in the same place as our N. American PSP's, but their functions are reversed.

wish they would release a ps3 in the titanium blue color they did for the infamous 2 controllers.
i wish $ony would offer the gun metal grey LE MGS4 console also my god that was so sexy!!!!!!!!!
one thing $ony should be doing allot more of, allot of people will go out and buy another one just for different looks!

it takes 6 years to get several new colours but not everywhere just some locations…
I wouldn't call this snazzy but I guess this'd surely make some folks happy…and as far as I'm concerned….I bleed BLUE!
