Pachter: “100%” Certain That God Of War IV And GoW Vita Is Coming

It appears very likely that a new God of War will be revealed on April 19 .

But what will it be? Is Kratos going to return? Is it going to be a sequel? Is it a new project or just a port for the PlayStation Vita? Well, former Sony Santa Monica employees have given us a few cryptic hints concerning the seemingly inevitable unveiling. When asked if God of War IV would be a prequel, former GoW concept artist Andy Park said:

"Kratos's past is touched upon to an extent if you go read the comic book series based on the game. As far as the games are concerned, I'm sure the amazing writers of God of War can figure out a way to incorporate and expand on Kratos' past into future games if they wanted to."

At the same time, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter believes "100%" that the fourth God of War is currently in development, and he's also positive that we'll eventually get a series installment for Sony's new portable. Said Pachter:

"The first [game] will likely be a port. Depending upon the success of Vita hardware, they may consider an original title for the handheld."

Personally, I just want God of War IV for the PS3, but you can't discount the impressive power and capability of the Vita; Sony could definitely come up with an awesome handheld gem.  But right now, April 19 looms large and we can't wait to see this new project, whatever it may be…

In a lot of comments I hear, people keep hoping that its not a Vita game. I don't understand why they don't want that.

Because full console productions are better, and most of us are waiting as long as possible before we actually buy a Vita.

Another would be that there are most likely far more people with PS3s but without Vitas than there are people with Vitas but without PS3s. So making thus a Vita game will exclude a lot more people than making it a PS3 game.

GOW2 is continued from where GOW1 left off… GOW3 continued from where GOW2 left off… So its very safe to assume GOW4 will continue from where GOW3 left off!

I guess I'm in the minority here but it's enough with Kratos already. His story is told, he has had 5 fantastic games and I just don't give a flying flip about his past or his future.

Go ahead with GOWIV, but let's see something fresh.

I am glad. Vita needs more top notch titles. Ps3 will get a good GOW game again too.

Then we will have the inevitable GOW vita remastered for ps3.

Not complaining though, God of war is always great.

but of course GOW4 is in development there is no freaking way in hell $ony is ending one of their biggest series this early!
id love to sit in my little bubble and believe david jaffe left eat sleep play so he could go back to SM to work on this.
but thats sadly highly unlikely.

I love god of war but they should just stop making it. What else is there really left to do, Kratos already took down Zeus and the other gods. Wasn't that the whole point since 2 take down Olympus. I really want new ip from Sonta Monica one that's mainly exclusive just for the vita, cause i know they could push that handheld like they did with gow 3 on ps3.

Sadly, if Pachter is saying it it's probably not going to happen.

The ps vita needs to get some good games. And people need to stop saying that all vita games should also be on the ps3.

I can understand that ps3 has a larger userbase and all, but sony needs to keep some franchises exclusive to the vita. They should learn from nintendo, who always keep their pokemon games exclusive to handhelds and don't port their handheld games to the console within the same generation (like gow:coo and gow:gos).

Vita needs to get exclusive, high quality, un-missable games which will compel people to buy it. And sony needs to create an exclusive franchise for their handhelds and never port it to the consoles.
Cross play is fine for sports games and such, but vita needs to get bigger exclusives.

Each system has had 2 God of War games except for the PS3. GoW II is significantly better than GoW I imo and is also my favorite, Ghost of Sparta was definitely better than Chains of Olympus, I feel like GoW IV won't be any different be better than GoW III.
