We thought Bulletstorm was an invigorating romp and a perfect guilty pleasure for shooter aficionados.

And while it sold relatively well and was met with general critical acclaim, fans won't get a sequel. Epic Games president Mike Capps told GameSpot that although developer People Can Fly had actually started development on a follow-up effort, it was ditched in favor of something better. Said Capps:

"We thought a lot about a sequel, and had done some initial development on it, but we found a project that we thought was a better fit for People Can Fly. We haven't announced that yet, but we will be announcing it pretty soon."

He did add that he'd "love to go back" to Bulletstorm at some point in the future and admitted that "it kind of ended wanting more." But for the time being, a sequel just isn't in the cards so fans of the original title will just have to sit tight. For the record, Capps said the sales were "good, but not amazing," and EA was probably hoping for a better performance.

It's a tough world out there for new IPs, isn't it?

awwwwww come on!
bulletstorm was freaking awesome!!!!!!!
first game was awesome, best shooter last year behind RAGE and crysis 2 obviously.
imaginative boss battles with multiple ways to kill them, imaginative enemies with oh so many ways to kill them, a beautiful colourful environment!
i mean who said UE3 can only do brown, brown and brown?
it was one of the best games weve had this gen!

best moment ive ever had in a game came from kicking a pumpkin onto a enemies head sending him blind running around in circles waling his arms in front of him.
why is it that all the creative imaginativeness funny colourful titles get binned and the boring stale repetitive same as everything else crap gets milked to kingdom come?
its almost like this industry hates originality!
gee, talk about being a suit!
i said it once, twice, and ill say it again.
no justice in this industry, none what so ever!!!!!!!!!
few years time and we will have nothing but COD wannabes on the shelf!
oh joy!

I couldn't agree more my friend. Dammit. I still throw on Bulletstorm when I want a quick shooting session. The kills just never get old, especially those sniper shots.
