If you ask any fighting fan to list the greatest fighting games of all time, it's likely Street Fighter II will appear in the top five, and maybe even the top three. And now, Capcom is teaming up with UDON to deliver an entirely new experience within the same game; an experience being prepared for the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace.

According to Joystiq , Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will use the same tactic Capcom portrayed with the Hyper Fighting release. But they're calling this a "pixel-by-pixel recreation" of the classic title, and that oughta excite the hell out of hardcore veterans. Hell, for fans of the genre, it's almost like remaking Final Fantasy VII ! Well, kind of.

Capcom hasn't gone into detail concerning the production just yet, but they did mention the entire game is being "redrawn;" everything from the characters to the background environments are getting visual touch-ups and refinements. And for now, it appears they're trying for a fall release, which isn't too far off. Street Fighter has legions of fans, but this will allow a whole new generation of gamers to revel in the 2D fighting goodness, provided they're not too jaded from the likes of Virtua Fighter 5 .
