Assassin's Creed III should be one of the most impressive games of the year.
With a new setting, story and hero, the game is shaping up to be quite the experience. But how will our new protagonist, Connor, handle the foes he must face? Stealth will play a role, of course, but combat will be more complex than ever.
According to TheGameHeadz , new fighting details from Ubisoft are starting to trickle in. First is the fact that the familiar counter system from past entries will be gone (damn, loved that mechanic), and we'll have a "balanced attack system" that centers on dual-wielding. Creative director Alex Hutchinson says the system "should feel really fresh" to fans of the franchise.
Basically, they're revamping a lot; nothing has been "copied-and-pasted" from old games. New additions include the advantage given by terrain, as Connor will be able to execute various attacks from different levels and platforms. This allows the frontier itself to become a weapon of sorts. Connor will also come equipped with a gun, bow-and-arrow, and the Tomahawk, which will be his primary weapon. Combining long-range with short-range attacks will be key, of course.
Well, provided I can still sneak up behind someone and do something nasty, I'm good. I'll miss those hidden blades if they're not included, though.
