Seems we can't have a big game launch without downloadable content on the horizon. And hey, extra stuff is a good thing.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City hits store shelves next week (March 20), and Capcom has confirmed the game's first batch of DLC, which should appeal to long-time franchise followers.

It's a new mission that puts you in control of Special Ops soldiers, and you will revisit the events of Resident Evil 3 . Remember Jill Valentine going up against the seemingly invincible Nemesis? I still remember having to get the hell away from that thing whenever it showed up early on…either move or die. I'm sure it'll be a little different this time around, though, as Operation Raccoon City isn't survival/horror; it's third-person, squad-based shooter by SOCOM developer Slant Six.

Anyway, this DLC will be available on April 10 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 so if you're planning to pick up the new action title next week, you might also want to plan on picking up the Jill/Nemesis mission. Especially 'cuz it's free . Either that, or you can wait for Resident Evil 6 in November. It's not really old-fashioned survival/horror, either, but at least it isn't squad-based.

My choices are Ninja Gaiden III and Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City..I'm leaning towards Ninja Gaiden III and just wait when Resident Evil 6 to drop to rent both Resident Evil games.

They are doing this because they know this game will not get good reviews. Capcom never gives anything away for free. Their DLC gouging is legendary.

While I'm iffy on getting the game, I do love me some nemesis ! However, being that this is Capcom we're talking about here, I'm sure this is just the lure to get the players to bite, and I'm sure they've got pleanty more overpriced DLC in the works.

What really bothers me though, is some of the fanbase for the RE series. Yeah, it's a new style of RE, but so was RE4 when it came out, and most of you love that, despite it pretty much killing off the RE series for others, and for good reasons, so explain why you're so upset over this being a…. "tactical shooter"?, well whatever it is.

I'm definitely going to wait until reviews hit. Lost planet 2 (even though low review score) had an awesome Co op imo. It was fun to take out gigantic beast with 3 other players. Having a similar style, wonder how it will be to take out zombies this time around.

The first RE I played was 3, and it is my favorite. I remember when you went through a door, Nemesis could not get trough it, but post the clocktower, he was everywhere!

STAAAARS!!

Maybe we'll see Carlos, Mikhail and Nicholai again?

I'm calling this a marketing ploy. Whatever DLC is considered free by them is something that can be included in the original disc anyway. It's like retailers saying "on sale" on items when in fact it's the original or standard price.

Meh, it's business, but it's unfortunate that a lot of DLCs are not really "extras," which in my definition is something that takes considerable, additional effort AFTER the game's launch time. 1-2 weeks doesn't sound like extra to me.
