Yeah, we sorta already knew but now it's official.
Today, Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed III will hit store shelves on October 30, 2012 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC, and as reported earlier , the setting will be colonial America and the Revolutionary War.
With a development cycle spanning 3+ years and twice the production capacity of any previous Ubisoft title, the third entry in this critically acclaimed franchise boasts a new hero who goes by the name Ratohnhaké:ton (good luck pronouncing that). Going by the simpler name of Connor, he has both Native American and English roots, and he becomes part of the age-old war between Assassins and the Templars. The press release says the title will feature "the most stylized and fluid combat" to date, and the landscape will be huge, ranging from "untamed frontier to bustling colonial towns and the intense, chaotic battlefields where George Washington's Continental Army clashed with the imposing British Army."
The game will also sport a brand new engine; AnvilNext, which "delivers breakthroughs in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence." We said it when we first heard about and we'll say it again: we're stoked .
