Harmonix Currently Working On An “Unannounced Title”

With the music genre dwindling and blockbuster franchises like Rock Band and Guitar Hero behind us, what does the future hold in store for dedicated studios like Harmonix?

Well, there's always the possibility that Rock Band will return (Activision has hinted that Guitar Hero isn't totally dead, after all), but the Dance Central developer might have something else up its sleeve.

Evidently, the newly independent developer is working on an "unannounced title" that will come to the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Facebook. …yeah, Facebook. Supererogatory spotted a resume for Brian Chan, which shows him to be the lead designer on the mystery project, but there are no further details at this time. Harmonix's official reply:

"As we've stated before, our studio is growing and hard at work on a variety of titles. In a storied Harmonix tradition, our designers start working on those games before they're publicly announced. We're excited to confirm more information soon, probably via a LinkedIn update or something – we haven't decided."

It's likely to be something music-related and the genre could use some definite innovation if it wants to survive. Well, if anyone can do it, we'd bet on Harmonix. Man, I still love Amplitude .
