Last year's Mortal Kombat reboot was a tremendous success, so one would assume a new effort is in the works.

But there hasn't been anything official on that front…at least, not until now. According to StickSkills citing a Twitter discussion between MK co-creator Ed Boon and PlayStation social media manager Sid Shuman, "Mortal Kombat 10" may soon be unveiled. Here's the Tweet:

"RT @sidshuman So…are any publishers showing anything for DICE? Noobde: Other than MK10, nothing from us. ;)"

Boon is known for getting people talking, so this could just be a fun PR ploy. But then again, why wouldn't NetherRealm produce a new Mortal Kombat installment? They appear to be doing some great things with that Vita version , and the MK followers are definitely champing at the bit for a new installment. Last year's rejuvenating title went a long way towards restoring 100% faith in the bloody, iconic franchise.

So yeah, just…stay tuned.

I won't buy another Mortal Kombat since they refused to make more dlc characters for the last game. I am a big fan of the Mortal Kombat series but they won't get me back until I see them creating the DLC Characters that their fans are asking for! MK Character DLC will make a lot of money for them and make the fans of this series very excited to get a long list of awesome characters like a dark version of Ghost Rider or a Predator. If they refuse the fans again, I will no longer support this series!

Well thank can't give us every MK character known to man via DLC. If they did that then there wouldn't be any reason to make a new MK. It's fine with the ones we have now.

Honestly, think about it! There is no reason they could not make more characters for the last MK. I read dozens of fan request asking for more characters and I also read their disappointment at not getting them! It's not about the game being fine with what was given in dlc characters. It's about the fans being refused the characters they were asking for. Some really cool dlc characters added to the game would have made that game even better, increased its game life and would have made a lot of fans happy as well.
Final Thought: I would like to see a fighting game where the whole idea is having more and more characters and arenas added based on fan requests. Now that would be impressive!

No, he didn't confirm anything. He made a sarcastic joke that StickSkills misconstrued. Which one can see just by following the later Tweets of Boon.
