A haunting atmosphere mixed with a first-person mechanic…it certainly sounds promising, especially considering it'll hit store shelves right around Halloween.
Well, for the PC, at any rate. Vivec Entertainment has announced their first game, Shadow of a Soul: Chapter I , which is described as a "first-person survival-horror game that immerses the player in a story rich in riddles, enigmas and terrifying horrors."
You can visit Vivec's website to learn more about the project and the debut trailer entitled "The Room" can be seen below. The hallway reminds us of "The Shining," and that isn't a bad thing.
Chapter 1 is the first part of a planned trilogy. Players will solve puzzles and search for clues while attempting to avoid "various manifestations of ghosts." You will play as Jack; he's a thief on an industrial espionage mission to steal some blueprints, but that mission soon goes out the window when strange things begin to happen. Said Ferzan Kanat Aygen, Vivec CEO:
"For me, Shadow of a Soul is all about creating the creepiest, and most shocking gaming experience. The goal of Chapter 1 is to dig the foundations for the following two chapters while telling a satisfying story in its own right. I’ve been blogging everyday about the development of the game and I’ll continue to do so until the release date. I invite everyone to check out the company blog (vivec3d.com/blog) to find out how the development is going, and everyone’s more than welcome to contribute their 2 cents."
The game has been in development for over a year already and boasts 12-16 hours of gameplay. It'll retail at the agreeable price of $19.99 and although the PS3 version will release behind the PC and Mac versions, at least we know it's coming. Expect Shadow of a Soul: Chapter I to arrive on Sony's platform in 2013.
