Mass Effect 3 GameStop Pre-Order Incentives Revealed

It's one of the most anticipated titles of 2012 and it's just over two months away. You have it pre-ordered, right?

No? Well, now's the time to drop your deposit for Mass Effect 3 at GameStop. The retailer has revealed the pre-order incentives for BioWare's latest gem (of course it'll be a gem).

Thankfully, they sound like very useful items: you get the N7 Valkaryie Rifle and the Defender Armor. …did someone misspell that word or is it different than "valkyrie?" Well, whatever. Cool stuff, at any rate. By the way, if you're a big time fan of the award-winning franchise, you can always pre-order the N7 Collector's Edition; it'll run you $79.99 but it's loaded with all sorts of goodies . That includes a 70-page hardbound art book, a premium metal case, and premium in-game content, among other things.

There are plenty of promising titles slated to arrive this year, but few have as much potential as ME3.

i just started playing ME2 and have a feeling its gonna take me a while. i dont know if i will be picking this collectors edition or not but the metal case makes me want to.

can anyone tell me if the weapons you can buy as dlc for me2 can be gotten in game or are they only dlc?

I think I completed the game in about 40 hours minus some of the sidequests. Not a game that's open, and not much looting leaves for a pretty straight forward, but satisfactory experience.

As for the weapons I believe it's just so you can access them sooner. It almost seems like you gain weapons in stages or as you progress you find the stronger types of guns.

Pre-order bonuses have never dictated my purchase, and to this day, they still don't. Gamestop is a horrible store, personally, and I haven't entered one in years. Amazon is the only place that I'll get my games, haven't had a single problem since making the transition. Anyway, this is good news for those gamers picking up the game a gamestop.

My only Amazon experience was a crappy one. Pre-ordered Catherine collectors edition more than 3 months before release. Did only notified me of a delay a few days AFTER the game was out. 1 week later they still hadn't sent it. I canceled, went over to the closest EB games (gamestop equivalent) and grabbed a collector edition they had left from people who didn't take their pre-orders XD.

End of amazon for me 4 evaaaa. Canceled all my pre-orders and put them at my nearby EB games XD. At least they will get you your pre-order.

I've never had that problem with Amazon, just Fed-Ex(they take so long to get to my house lol)! Sucks you had a bad experience, though.

Nope,
No physical manual, then no full price!

Manuals are a waste of Tree! 90% of the people stopped reading them after their 3rd game purchase. We all know buttons and menus are generally intuitive.

Only good point is for collectors I guess. Still these little manuals are pretty useless nowadays.

I still have Mass Effect 2 sitting in my rack unplayed. Been busy playing the other titles, but ME3 is definitely on my list.

well the timing of getting it put in between games i wanted to finish. i know its a long game so i put off playing it to wait til i was done with other games at the time. i am now playing it and i can see why people love it. graphically it doesnt do anything for me. the controls frustrate me but not much.

at this point i have played all my other games so i figured it would be a good time to start on this one. its a good game just not exciting at this point. maybe after i get further that will change.

I'm glad you see that the graphics are not that great either. For some reason this game is getting praised for something it's not accomplishing. Everyone says it's a great port to the PS3 also and I look at the game and can only somewhat agree.

Having said that I completely understand why the game gets praise in every other category, it's a great game!

There is a difference between saying it's a great port and that it has great graphics. The Mass Effect series was never really known for its graphics. Having said that they are by no means terrible. I have only seen a little bit of ME2 on the 360. I guess why it gets praise is both versions are nearly identical.

I think if you're calling something a great port, there should be some technical issues ironed out… Graphics are not limited to how much detail a character has, it's a much more broad word. So when I say poor Graphics sure I'm speaking of all the polygons I could see in an area of the game, it looked very unfinished, but still talking about how grainy the cgi looks. On top of that the sound cuts out quite a bit. Great game, and it may be a great port as in it fixes some issues the other versions have… But for it being a "great" port there is still issues to it.

My biggest concern is if the PS3 version is a superior version the game shouldnt get the scores its getting because its fun. So its basically getting a pass in the graphics, where other games are not. That's my issue with someone saying it's a great port. That doesn't mean I'm hating on the game, cus I loved the game, I just find it difficult to comprehend how GT5 can take so much heat for the shadows being blocky, yet areas of ME2 looked unfinished and looked like it was never rendered and nobody cares. That's just one example.

Was not the PS3 version of ME2 made with the ME3 engine?

Funny you bring that up bigrailer. GT5 was absolutely trashed over its shadows and jaggies.

Based off a GT5's reviews, I no longer visit websites that exibited a serious lack of professionalism.

Underdog-

Couldn't tell you. But it sounds like something I've heard before.

Max-

Yea I just feel it's unfair to give passes to all these games that actually are graphically inferior to others. Those issues should be addressed and reflect in the review score is all I'm saying. From what I can see they do not in ME2. The game is getting high praises, for reasons it should, but NOT getting addressed for the issues it has. Not sure if the game does a good job of making light of those issues because of how good it is. Or if it's the reviewers neglecting to address the issues.

I also refuse to visit most any other websites for the exact reasons you mentioned!

Well I dunno. I thought it looked pretty good. Like you said it had a *grainy* look. But that did not really bother me. Part of the game's look to me. The game did not make any claims as to be the most realistic or anything and I think the graphics really did a good job carrying me all the way to the end in this pretty sweet universe.

GT5 on the other hand was aiming to be a photorealistic racing sim. Althought like you, I think most critics over-reacted. When the goal is to look realistic, you won't expect all those BEYOND jagged shadows and PS2ish detailed races and standard cars. Now I own the game and in my eyes it owns any other racing sim but… The graphical flaws in GT5 got to me way more than ME2 PS3 did. That is because I was looking for a photo-realistic game. Like everyone was. When you look at your race in replay, it looks so much better than in cockpit view you know. When I was looking at GT5 previews. They were always showing those gorgeous premium cars in replay mode or B spec. Then when you get to the game you have a few unpleasant surprises graphics wise.

Anyway I understand why GT5 would get lower graphics than ME2 in the reviews. You must not compare sim graphics to other types of games. You must evalutate the graphics as to how they carry the story/atmosphere of the game towards its goal. If they do their job in the context they are used.

I want the collector edition, that one contains a sniper rifle.

In ME2 the Geth sniper rifle was my best friend. Me sneaking around in the back shooting people in the head and in the frontline a crazy Krogan running around with his Krogan 1 shot 1 kill Combat shotgun. And as my second side-kick a character with mental abilities who can trow around enemies which break the Krogan barrier.

Man gotta love Mass Effect. But you have to play it on it's hardest setting to truly experience the benefit of commanding multiple sidekicks and send them in and out of the battlefield at command.

I'm not trying to cause an argument here coz i'm not like that but for the best mass effect experience you really need to play mass effect 1 first.

You're probably right. I was hoping ME, would come on the ME2 disc for the PS3 but that didn't happen. At this point, I've given up on worrying about playing it.

The collectors edition with the robot pet is already pre-ordered long time ago. Only a couple of months left now and the experience can start.
