Okay, first the good news, and then the speculation.

A reader has informed us that retailer Play.com has given Diablo III a January 24, 2012 release date.

Right now, the game is still in a beta phase that began in September and officially, Blizzard has only set an "expected launch window" of "early 2012." Therefore, the date isn't out of the realm of possibility. However, it's obviously only for the PC version and although we've heard that the developers are looking into a console release for this long-awaited game, we have to wonder when it will show up… At this rate, maybe that's a dangerous question to ask.

For whatever reason, PC games take seven gajillion years to make, as the Diablo fans (and Duke Nukem and Starcraft fans) will tell you. Just getting Diablo III onto store shelves will be some kind of monstrous feat; can console gamers expect a version for them on January 24 as well? Probably not. So when? Don't wait too long, Blizzard…after a certain point, we just might not care any longer.

Heck, the PS4 might be here.

I think games like Diablo 3 want to stay true to PC gamers and want to make it only for PC. I think they should keep it that way. Take a look at Dungeon Siege for example. The first game was highly addictive for the PC, I played it constantly. I heard Dungeon Siege 2 was just as good. As soon as they ported Dungeon Siege 3 to consoles, it didn't see as many purchases. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my take. and when I say purchases, I mean for the console version.

If Dungeon Siege were to stay true to the PC platform it would've been a solid hit and they would've taken more time to develop the game. and yes after 1st and 2nd game comes out and then a 3rd comes out, people start to get bored with the series. there's a number of different factors and I could go on and on.

So I think Diablo 3 should stay PC simply because that's where its roots are.

Last time I watched the graphs (about two years ago,I'm not a Diablo fan) they didn't look impressive or something 360,Ps3 couldn't run.. if that's the case they should do it if they like money.

I don't believe it has anything to do with graphics. Blizzard is like Valve, they make games that a wide range of PCs can run.

Exactly LV… after playing the latest quality titles from Sony, like Uncharted 3, Killzone 3 and the like, there is no excuse. The PS3 can easily handle Diablo. Just sort out the control system… and stop being lazy!

I loved the original Diablo on PS1. The same-screen multiplayer was great fun! I would definitely welcome Diablo III.

I work for Game in the UK. We have received no such word of this.
Usually we would know a game is coming in a month time.
If we find out I will let you know.

I would love to see Diablo III on the PS3, but I fear it won't/wouldn't happen till say 2013 at the earliest. I think they are completely focused on the PC version and that is a good thing. Even though I don't play PC games they deserve like anything else a developers full attention to make them the best possible game it can be. Afterwords please bring it to the PS3 as I can see myself getting lost in that game.

they definitely will, but whether they should or not is a different story.
im just not so sure there is A a market for it and B it will suit.
being a dungeon crawler game its like RTS games you really need a keyboard so you can have hotkeys and a large array of controls.
consoles though dont there really limited to their controls so it would be really awkward adapting the controls.
so im not really sure they should do it, i mean is there a market for it?
would it sell well enough to warrant hiring experienced developers for consoles, and porting it over?
would the sales cover the costs, and make a worthwhile profit?
im not so sure.

Being a pc user as well as ps3, this is one game I hope will stay on the pc so that blizzard only focus on making it fun using the mouse + keyboard instead of using gamepads to compensate for console players just like dungeon siege 3 where the gameplay using mouse + keyboard is really bad.

The first diablo was also for playstation. I played it both for of and for that. I would love to play diablo 3 on my x box. It would look the same and pretty much play the same like the playstation version for diablo did.
