Ready for the next generation of consoles? Well, it isn't here yet, but it's inevitable.
According to Ubisoft Montreal speaking to Edge , major developers (including Ubisoft and EA) are currently making games for the Xbox 360's successor, with an anticipated late-2012 launch date for the new machine.
Right now, it seems the teams in question are working on games with Microsoft-provided "target boxes" that use various computer parts that match the specs for the new console. The first official development kits are expected to go out by the end of this year. Furthermore, in regards to the PlayStation brand, Edge's report says that "one major Sony-owned studio has now ceased PlayStation 3 development" to work on software for the next console.
Recently, we had heard that some internal Sony studios had already started work on games for the PS4; this new piece of evidence appears to corroborate that rumor. And if all of this is accurate, you can expect 2012 to be a year where we start heavily talking about the next generation.
