Psst…hey…c'mere… Okay, don't tell anyone, but…it seems Activision plans to release another Call of Duty in 2012. Totally not joking, dude.

During the publisher's quarterly report , Activision first confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 had the largest day-one shipment numbers in gaming history.

They went on to confirm more promising titles for next year: Diablo III , Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm , a new expansion for World of Warcraft called Mists of Pandaria , and a "new Call of Duty game." In addition, the recently released Skylanders: Spyro's Adventures has outperformed expectations and overall, in the three months ending September 30, Activision enjoyed quarterly revenues of $754 million, up 16% in the year-over-year comparison.

The bottom line was better, too, as the publisher had a net profit of $148 million, way up from $51 million in the same quarter of 2010. However, it's interesting to note that Activision's traditional retail business shrank ($250 million down from $320 million), while the digital business rose from $363 million to $427 million. So subscriptions, downloadable content, digitally distributed titles, and mobile titles are obviously on the rise.

Overall, Activision's full-year prediction has gone up; they now expect better-than-expected earnings: the publisher anticipates $4.33 billion up from the previously expected $4.18 billion. Yes, billion.

Say thank you, MW3.

CoD seems to be breaking it's own record every year, at this rate, looks like 10 million pre-orders is possible.

I don't know… Is CoD really popular enough to warrant another sequel?

Maybe 2-3 more, much like guitar hero…

Only thing is, Activision are smart enough this time not to saturate the market with more than 1 CoD title per year. Guitar Hero had about 5 titles in 1 year alone!!!

MW3 will most likely be the last CoD I ever get. I have MW1 on PC, MW2 on PS3 and MW3 now on 360, so I got all my bases covered.

Only thing that would make me get another CoD next year is a new graphics and physics engine, longer campaign (at least 8-9 hours) and more fun co-op multiplayer content, since I'm not a big fan of the versus multiplayer stuff.

MW3 is the end of the trilogy. The new COD won't be MW but something different and a new engine altogether.

not exactly surprising.
though id love to see what treyarch have in store next, they seem to actually be improving allot from one game to another.

I kinda want CoD to fail soon. I am sick of seeing new titles every year.

Why can't they just capitalize on the one game for at least 2 years!

So in other words, ive got till Nov next year to finish playing MW3

and EA have confirmed Medal Of Honor for next year too – looks like EA are going to rotate MOH and BF the way Activision do with Infinity Ward and Treyarch – Works for me !
