We've said it before and we'll say it again (and again): don't ever underestimate the need for a great soundtrack in an epic, AAA video game.

Music drives things forward and keeps us involved, even if it's often on a borderline subconscious level. And if you appreciate the score in the recently released Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception , you'll want to get your hands on that gripping soundtrack.

Designed by composer Greg Edmonson, the music in Naughty Dog's latest masterpiece was "created to fit a wide variety of daring situations and subtle moods," and it's perfect for the cinematic feel of the game. As announced at the PlayStation Blog , you can now purchase the entire soundtrack for only $9.99.

If you'd rather have the physical copy, you can buy it at Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, and Fry's Electronics as of November 15. Further digital options include Amazon.com, Bestbuy.com, LaLaLandrecords.com, and iTunes. Lastly, an "exclusive 2CD Limited Edition version," which will be limited to 3,000 units and includes liner notes by Daniel Schweiger, can be purchased at LaLa Land Records.

But you know, all the Uncharted games had great music so if you're a true fan, you'll want all the soundtracks. Both full soundtracks from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves are also available on the Store ($5.99 each) and next week, you'll be able to grab 'em both at the same time for only $9.99.

By the way, composer Edmonson is best known for composing the music for TV's "Firefly," and he's the winner of the Best Original Music award from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for his Uncharted 2 work.

Cool,
I think all sound-tracked games should be doing this too.

As for myself, if I looked through my own PS3 collection of 174 game(so far), I'm quite sure I'd find a good number of those games that I also wouldn't mind having just the soundtrack to too.

I think I like U3's soundtrack more than U2's, both good either way.

btw, I just finished that shipyard level. hot dang. pure awesomeness. I was feeling things were a bit predictable and fairly "been there, done that" from a game play standpoint up until I hit that stage. But man, I want to do that stage several times over.

The Uncharted 2 soundtrack was fantastic, my favourite was Nate's theme. Some of the tunes had a Tibetan "flavour" to it, because of the game setting, I assume. Can't wait to check out the UC3 soundtrack, Edmonson has a real talent for composing classical themes.

I wonder if Sony would be able to put like a music store on the PSN. But, I'm not sure how they would go about doing that though.

i was really surprised and disappointed by uncharted 3.
surprised because i thought it would be exactly like uncharted 2, all big set pieces, ridiculous story and poor repetitive gameplay.
surprising and happily it is not, though disappointed because its removed all the things that made its predecessor so good.
this is EXACTLY like KZ3!
KZ3 added everything i wanted over 2, but it also removed everything that made that game so good.
uncharted 3s done exactly the same!
when your creating a sequel your suppose to carry over what everyone liked, remove what everyone hated, and improve what you can improve.
but they havent, they removed allot of the things people liked, kept the things people hated, and slightly but not enough improved things they could of and needed improvement.

the polish is really lacking too!
i experienced zero bugs in the 10+ times ive finished uncharted 2, but in 1 minute of playing uncharted 3 i experienced heaps more.
not to mention a game breaking bug allot of fans are now complaining about.
i was lucky enough not to get it but theres posts exploding everywhere of angry fans having a problem where a cut scene wont trigger later on in the game thus stopping them from progressing in the game.
i wont link to the article i found because theres videos of one of the last missions and i dont want it spoiled for anyone.
though just make sure you frequently make multiple saves so if that does happen to you then you can reload a different save and hopefully that will fix it.

this REALLY feels like it was rushed!
really feels like it needed a extra 6 months at least left in development that way all the bugs can be worked out and also refine the gameplay and graphics.
why does everything look like freaking plastic!?
compare the jungle scene from uncharted 2 to the jungle scene just before the burning building in uncharted 3.
those leaves look like the cheap fake flowers the servo tries to sell you!

Nothing looks like plastic whatsoever. The lighting's quite a bit different in those two jungle scenes you mentioned, but it definitely doesn't look like plastic.

Also, the big set pieces are still there, there's just fewer of them overall. And the reason for that is that the game's shorter than UC2. But that doesn't mean these set pieces are any less awesome than UC2's.
