Love 'em or hate 'em, the Spike TV Video Game Awards have become quite the event; last year, the award show played host to plenty of big game announcements, including the debuts of Mass Effect 3 , The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , Prototype 2 , and others.

We can probably expect more of the same this year, along with something else: the "truth" about Metal Gear Solid: Rising . Yeah, we don't know what that means, either, but Spike TV executive producer Geoff Keighley has updated his Twitter page with the following:

"The truth about Metal Gear Solid: Rising will finally be revealed at 2011 VGAs by @hideo_kojima_en. 12.10.11"

The cool part is that Kojima will be on hand to reveal that truth, which we're hoping is awesome news. We really haven't heard much about Rising since it was first unveiled in 2009, so we're kinda wondering what's happening… Remember, this is not technically Kojima's project; although he is overseeing the work to some extent, he has passed this on to another internal team. Or so we've heard.

Oh, and Xbox Live director of programming, Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has confirmed that the Alan Wake follow-up, which we had hoped would come to the PlayStation platform, will be an exclusive standalone downloadable title on Live. At least, we're assuming it's exclusive. But even if it is, many exclusives from Live have made their way to the PSN, including the award-winning Limbo .

Anyway, we're interested in the "truth" about Metal Gear Solid: Rising . Everyone hold your breath…
