Plenty of established franchises from third-party publishers are heading to the PlayStation Vita. One of them is the industry-leading Call of Duty .
Sony had mentioned before that the mega-blockbuster series would be portable-bound, but they never provided us with an estimated launch window. Well, it's apparently the same as the new CoD that's in development for consoles and likely slated to release towards the end of the year. If we were to guess, we'd say November.
A reader has pointed us in the direction of a Vita launch interview at GameTrailers , in which senior vice-president of PlayStation brand marketing, Guy Longworth, confirmed that Call of Duty for the Vita is in development and is set to launch this fall. He didn't provide any other specifics but that's enough for now, right?
Interestingly enough, Longworth calls this title an "absolute game-changer" for the Vita, although we're not entirely sure why. Presumably, he's just talking about the legion of CoD fans out there who might be intrigued, and therefore run out to buy Sony's handheld. Then again, maybe he means it'll be quite the amazing FPS…in the meantime, shooter fans can look forward to Resistance: Burning Skies and Killzone .
Well, this should create a big sales hike for the Vita system when COD launches.
PS3 vs PS Vita is coming.. just watch.
that is what I am hoping for, or at least stats from one version to transfer over to the other
You beat me to it. If COD:VITA cross plays versus COD: PS3 the paradigm may shift. Hmmm….
The rumblings at ACTISOFT continue…
I am hoping that "absolute game-changer" = "quite the amazing FPS".
If The VITA produces a FPS equal to or better than a console (imagine) it would truly CHANGE THE GAME!
I don't care one jot, but as long as it moves units that's great.
Well, remote play wouldn't make it a vita vs ps3 event.
I say a Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Skyrim and Madden 2013 combo…Would be a game changer. It would be hard for Nintendo to fight back after that one.
Sony is taking a step in the right direction with the PS Vita. Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs Capcom 3,Call of duty, Resistance, Uncharted, Rumored Bioshock and killzone.
I would be very surprised (as in astonished) if the 3Ds out sells the PS Vita come Xmas
2012. With that lineup.
As a fan of FPS I'm looking forward to seeing what Vita can do for the genre on handhelds. Since it has dual analog sticks and more than capable horsepower I'm hoping this is the system that finally makes FPS worth playing on the go. Resistance and Killzone certainly have my interest, I'd like to be able to add CoD to that list, so hopefully they show something soon.
"Dude, you only killed me cuz i'm on my Vita right now. Wait until I get home!"
haha! I can see that now.
HAHA good one
It's been a few years since I picked up a CoD game and I may be inclined to get involved in CoD again if a decent Vita version of the title drops.
One thing that can't be denied about the COD series is that they are always polished consistently play well, so I'm sure it could be executed on the Vita.
never said if it will be the same as the console versions or not.
i hope not, id have a much bigger impact if it was a different game exclusive to the vita like what ubisoft did with AC2 and bloodlines.
however i could not care less about it!
im much more interested in the AC game coming to it, i just hope its not a port of AC3!
1. Hopes its not a Port of MW3 or BO2
2. New Campaign Story
3. Multiplayer
Waiting for this to release to get a Vita !
P.S I'll accept a GTA V Port though :]
I hope this makes more people convert to playstation family because there are a lot of die-hard xbots that want cod on the go.
I do hope this game is good, but much more importantly I hope this gets a lot of vitas sold
I want a game system that I know will last! (not that I think it wouldn't but the more hardware sales means the more great games I'll get to play!)
if i didn't want power i would be happy playing the wii.
give me technology!
