After hearing that Insomniac was ditching the Resistance franchise, many shooter fans were disappointed.
But as the studio said at the time, other teams would continue to keep the Chimera invasion alive. A great example of that is the upcoming Resistance: Burning Skies for the PlayStation Vita, which now has an official release date.
As announced at the PlayStation Blog , the world's first dual analog portable shooter will be available on May 29 in North America. You can check out the sweet box art at the Blog, too. Burning Skies focuses on "an entirely new dimension of the Resistance universe," as players will step into the boots of Tom Riley, an "everyday fighter" from New Jersey. …what, Jersey can't have bad-ass military guys?
But perhaps most importantly, the game has been built from the ground up "to take full advantage of the power of the Vita," and that includes front and rear touchscreen controls and of course, the analog sticks. As the Blog post finishes with enticing flair:
"Never thought you’d play a console-quality shooter on a portable device? Game Director Harley Baldwin White-Wiedow has one thing to tell you: 'TWO STICKS, baby!'"
