Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus Joins The Fun On Vita Launch Day

Add one more promising title to the PlayStation Vita's North American launch lineup.

Tecmo Koei America and Team Ninja have announced that Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is confirmed for release in the US on February 22, 2012; the same day as the launch of Sony's slick new portable.

The game was previously set for a tentative "launch window" release and they've just pinned it down to the 22nd. Basically, this is Ninja Gaiden Sigma redone for the Vita; Sigma was released on the PlayStation 3 in 2007 and boasted a bunch of new features including stunning new high-definition graphics. The Vita version will take advantage of both touchpads and the gyro sensor (for targeting enemies and shooting projectiles) and for noobies, there's Hero Mode. In this mode, automatic blocking and evading is enabled so you only have to worry about attacking.

Said Team Ninja Studio Head Yosuke Hayashi:

"The Ninja Gaiden series lends itself to a great experience on this amazing new platform. We're confident that gamers, both our fans and those new to the series, will find NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA PLUS to be a thrilling and challenging experience that lives up to the spirit of what the series is best known for while offering a host of new and portable gameplay mechanics."

Lastly, don't forget about an array of Ninja Trials; sub-missions that "will have a multitude of difficulties and unique mission content." Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus should be another little incentive to pick up the Vita come February, and that goes double for action buffs.
