Uncharted: Golden Abyss is an example of portable greatness on the PlayStation Vita, but Sony's new portable is diverse.
For example, take Idol Minds and SCE San Diego's Ruin (working title), which is an "ambitious multiplayer action/RPG" that features cross-platform functionality with the PlayStation 3, and a deep social network designed to keep you connected regardless of your location.
Head over to the PlayStation Blog to read up on the available information. They talk about how Ruin needed to be "socially sticky" as the teams were looking for better ways to do PvP (Player vs. Player). And it all starts with the Lair, where you'll equip and customize your character. The Lair acts as your defense when you're off the battlefield and adds to your offense when on the attack.
But that's just one interesting gameplay feature. You really have to check out everything this promising project offers, from co-op fun to an in-depth, highly customizable action/RPG experience that breaks all sorts of boundaries. The Vita is "always on" (i.e., connected), as is your PS3, provided you set 'em up that way. Ruin seeks to take advantage of this new generation of gamers who are always plugged in.
Blah, it's just a top down RPG to me. I don't care about social stuff but I can see how if they can get people addicted like Mafia Wars stuff it would help them.
If there is anything that makes a 'game' feel like a chore it's the peer obligation imposed by social gaming and the dependence on 'friends' to do things for you. This is one of the reasons I loathe this social gaming label, because it derives from all those horrible facebook games, aka social games.
I'm a bit discouraged by all of the games adopting the "social gaming" monicker. Not everything needs a social aspect to it.
But I think I'm more bothered by the graphics for this game. They remind me of an iOS title in terms of quality, with slightly better anti-aliasing. Compared to Golden Abyss, well… there's no comparison. Could they not have coaxed a little more power from the Vita's ample supply?
im really looking forward to this it was the one game at E3 that really caught my interest.
that and sorcery which i hope has not been canned that looked really cool!
XBOX 720(Blue Ray eventually) will be as powerful as PS3, no need for PS4. Sony knows this.
