PSXE Poll Update: Vita Ain’t Done Yet

Many don't think the PlayStation Vita will make it. A perceived lack of third-party support and a high cost of admission are the biggest hurdles.

And while a fair percentage of readers at PSXE really do believe Sony's handheld is dead in the water, the majority think it has a chance. Sony has said many times in the past – for all their hardware – that it's always a "marathon, not a sprint." And after all, if they just start coming with the software later this year and into 2014, everything could come out just fine. Remember, the PSP didn't really start to surge until it was a few years into its lifespan.

The only problem is that we're not seeing much in the way of support, and the release calendar for the Vita is looking awfully thin. Perhaps what it needs now above all else is a price cut, especially so it'll look more attractive when the PlayStation 4 launches. That Remote Play feature sounds cool, but it's not exactly a system-saver. This week, we're pretty sure Sony will give us the release date for the PS4, and many are expecting them to show off more PS4 games, too. Will some of those be launch titles? And if so, how significant will they be…?

Probably nothing groundbreaking but a few good things. Does Witcher 3 have a release date? That's about all I'm caring about right now.

I agree with the price cut; it could definitely be a game changer, just like with the 3DS. But just like with everything else, the lack of support is simply devastating. I don't think it's dead yet, but if things continue like this, it will most likely be in a couple of years.

There's Two things I wish for the launch lineup to be better:

– GTA5 PS4 version at launch.
– Infamous to become a launch title.

Everything else can wait. But those two I want ASAP.

another big problem with the vita is $onys putting crap developers behind their biggest titles.
resistance burning skies was suppose to be the savior of the vita, the worlds first true portable shooter.
so they give the game to nhilistic!
WTF!?
thats like saying were going to create a car to wipe the smirk off bugatti, and best of all were going to get suzuki to do it!
come on $ony, stop pussyfooting around and get some half decent developers creating your titles!
nhilistic f*ck up resistance, so $ony says great will get them on another of this industries biggest franchises.
and guess what?
they f*cked that one up even more!
its almost like $ony wants the vita to die!

$ony bend, one of the best developers in the industry = uncharted golden abyss, THE best game on the vita, and one of the BEST games EVER released!
$ony japan studio, again one of the best developers in the industry = gravity rush, not a great game but very imaginative and creative.
nhillistic one of the worst developers in the industry = CoD declassified & resistance burning skies, 2 of the biggest pieces of tripe ever released!
does not take a brain surgeon to spot the pattern here $ony……………
STOP PUTTING SHITTY DEVELOPERS ON THE INDUSTRIES BIGGEST BEST FRANCHISES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and maybe, just maybe, the vita will actually start attracting a audience!
god forbid!

Are you an ignorant fool that does not do their searching? Sony did not put nihilistic on cod. That was a part on activision! Neversoft was making cod for the vita before they were disbanded. Nihilistic got the crap end of the script because they were left with an unfinished code that was not their own so they had six months to try and fix it and release it. Blame activision and not Sony or should I say $ony, like you put it.

It would be amazing if Sony would take further advantage of the current partnership with RockStar and have birth to a GTA/Vita bundle. All previous GTA games pre-loaded onto a 32GB Vita card.

GTAV PS4 on launch would be spectacular but I understand how they will want to saturate on the current gen first but if and when they do a timed exclusive would injure the competition.

If the rumored $500 PS4 & PS Vita bundle was to be released, I'd definitely be getting that bundle. It would certainly help the Vita adoption rate.
