Just so you know, yes, there is a Polish magazine that has our exact same name. And yes, it's just a coincidence.
Anyway, according to Examiner.com citing the aforementioned magazine, PSX Extreme, the upcoming Killzone: Mercenary for the PlayStation Vita "makes use of nearly the same engine" as the one used in Killzone 3 for the PS3.
Supposedly, developer Guerrilla Games has "added some new gimmicks" to the existing engine (which likely included touchscreen commands) and graphically, the game impresses. That probably won't surprise anyone who's familiar with the franchise. The source goes so far as to say that Mercenary looks even better than Uncharted: Golden Abyss , which is certainly a big-time visual tour de force for the Vita. Lastly, in terms of frame rate, it's apparently quite stable even when it's "highly active" and PSX Extreme (again, not us) labels the title as a "portable Killzone 3 ." Well, we certainly hope so.
Expect to see some official information very soon…

Oh goody! A game on the Vita that plays a lot like a game many people were disappointed in…
Graphically speaking, Yay! If the gameplay is a let down, then a pretty game means squat collecting dust on a shelf…
Seems you were the only disappointed one 🙂
Working man CH1N00K is a lot more cynical than poor broke CH1N00K, it's great lol
But I get your point. KZ3 imo was terrible but it wasn't a bad looking game. On the back of KZ2 I have high hopes for this game in the series but if the gameplay is KZ3 i.e. completely on rails, then I won't be picking it up. But you also have to remember that what made KZ3 so rubbish was the fact that they tried to make it work with Move. I don't expect anything like that with a Vita title.
I just emailed you the link about this so… I guess you beat me to it Ben. Just disregard.. lol.
Mercenary looks amazing if the screenshots are anything to go by. Guerrilla Games is a competent developer so I am confident that this will be a stellar title for the Vita.
A portable step backward for the series eh? Vita is in trouble.
Polish people are fun, go Reality Pump!
sweet, exactly what the vita needs!
not really, needs new unique titles for it but that wont happen too often too soon, so this will have to do.
just 1 request.
BOSS BATTLES!
they were by FAR the best part of killzone 2, cant believe this generations hatred of boss batels lately!
R2 boss battles were the best part of the game!
KZ2 boss battles were the best part of the game!
U2 boss battles were the best part of the game!
R3 boss battels gone. 🙁
KZ3 boss battles gone. 🙁
U3 boss battles gone. 🙁
seeing a pattern here?
why has the industry suddenly become boss battle allergic!?
I LIKED KILLZONE 2's LOOK BETTER THAN KILLZONE 3.
I perfer playing the Killzone games on the PS3/big screen.
Me too. I will wait until it is a bargain basement game and buy this. 🙂 Want to see Killzone for the ps4 with 100 players at one time on it and a much faster pace.
End of Line.
I think it's just more of a entertaining franchise played on the big screen, imo.
Jeez, a few debbie downers here…
When this arrives I'll have Killzone, Assassins Creed, Little Big Planet, Uncharted and FIFA on a portable games system all playing basically very similar to their console originals (plus the dozens of other titles).
I don't know what you are wanting in a handheld but that is close to perfect for me!
Agreed! This will be splendid to play on my portable console! If this game came with a crisp 100$ bill people would flip out over the chance of them getting a paper cut from it. I say get over yourself!!
I agree as well, this cannot come out fast enough! I have played and loved KZ2 and KZ3. This sounds really optimistic. RBS was a generic shooter however the controls were great! RBS proved to me that a FPS works great on the Vita. I am really looking forward to seeing a FPS done right by a great dev that has put some time and love into it. This is a handheld game so to see PSX Poland's positive reaction and assessment is impressive. KZ4 on the PS4!!! The more KZ the better!
You are correct. The haters are in full force here! If any company is competent enough to make a great vita fps, it is guerrilla games. The vita owners have seen what is capable on this small portable and we have actually used one ^^^! I can't wait for it, after playing something like most wanted that there were a few graphical downgrades I am expecting a game with amazing graphics from these guys. They know how to push the hardware as good a ND and Santa Monica Studios :).
One thing i like about this one, your not ISA. One thing when playing Killzone is your actually technically playing as the badguys. Depends on how you look at it. The ISA came to Helghan stole their resources and left them for dead. They rose back up in power and wanted revenge. Anyway, can't wait for this game. Killzone is my favorite FPS.
At least Guerrilla Games is smart enough to not trust another studio to make Mercenary.
That makes me optimistic for the game just in that regard.
