PlayStation Plus Hits Vita Next Week

It's time to make the PlayStation Vita that much more intriguing to gamers.

Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) has announced that PlayStation Plus, the premium PlayStation Network subscription, will expand its Instant Game Collection to include support for Sony's new portable in North America. This support begins on November 19.  Yep, next week.

Plus members will get 6 new titles to play on the Vita along with the 12 that are already available for the PS3, and all this can be had for less than $5/month (considering the one-year $49.99 annual fee). Plus will hit the Vita when the handheld's new system software update, Version 2.00, arrives. If you're not yet familiar, Plus' Instant Game Collection features unlimited access to a continually revolving stable of new downloadable titles. And to kick things off for the Vita, gamers will be able to check out Uncharted: Golden Abyss , Jet Set Radio , WipEout 2048 , Gravity Rush , and Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!

Said SCEA vice president of marketing home consoles and portable platforms, John Koller:

"The PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection is such an incredible value, providing PS3™ and now PS Vita owners with a library of 18 games for less than $5 a month. Ultimately, we know that gamers choose platforms based on content, and with the addition of PS Plus and a stellar lineup of exclusive games launching for the platform by this holiday season, now is the perfect time to purchase a PS Vita."

And of course, beyond the Instant Game Collection, Plus offers exclusive discounts, early access to beta tests and downloadable content, automatic updating, and online cloud storage for up to 2GB worth of game saves (1GB for PS3 and 1GB for Vita). If you're interested, you can try Plus for 3 months for $17.99 or spring for the 12-month plan for the cost of $49.99. If you're already a member, you'll be able to enjoy all Plus features on the Vita at no extra charge.

Happy gaming!

I've had PS+ since day one and it's been totally worth it! And it just keeps getting better. Sony, you just sold yourself another Vita! 🙂

I'm gonna download all the free games so when I do get a Vita down the line I'll have a mini library of stuff to play. That is assuming they do that with Plus.

Only if you're already a PS+ subscriber, you can "download" it to leave it on your download list and later if you still have PS+ you can play it.

World, that's what I've already been doing, D/L'ing them to my PS3, but not actually installing them.

I need to get the funds to re-buy a Vita again, but I still bought that DLC pack for Escape Plan & got a few other things so I'll have a small but decent library of Vita stuff set for when I do get another.

And luckily, you can shut down your PS3 without having to install Vita games, so they can stay right inside that D/L bubble that they come in.

World,
Not long after I got my Vital on launch day, I went to D/L some extra cars I bought for Motorstorm RC & my Vita wouldn't power up no matter what I did, even after I recharged it for 10 hours.

I took it back to GS because I thought it was bricked for good & figured I'd wait for a 2nd version to come out, so I paid my overdue bills with the money, and now with no job, no Vita $$$.

Come to find out the next day, some of the poster's right here told me there was an easy fix for it on YouTube.

But anyway, if my finances ever change for the better, I'll definitely get another one, plus I still have my Uncharted, Wipeout, Hot Shots Golf, & my 16GB Vita memory card that's 1/2 full of games & stuff.

Thanks World!!!!

Hell, I'll even settle for any donated old junky used titles or still-working systems/hand-helds that they don't want anymore.

Or trade for a few of my own retro doubles.

sigh.
why would you add uncharted as the plus title?
i mean that has to be by far the most owned vita title, so wouldent it be a better idea to offer something 99.99999999999999999999% of vita owners dont already have?
they should of chosen something thats not as popular, maybe LBP, resistance or even some third party titles.
exactly why this sub will be my last, every single time $ony updates plus it has games everyone already has!
i mean RDR!?
really!?
is their a single living thing on this planet who has not played RDR, and is interested in doing so?
might as well add COD BO2!
every man and his dog already has it!

Half of the vita owners do not have uncharted because of its cost. Same goes with other games. I myself don't have rdr anymore and I would like it back. So complain all you want but plus is more than worth it.

Ever think this might be a ploy to get NON Vita owners to finally take the plunge and by one??

what?
uncharted is exactly the same price as every other retail vita release.
just because YOU dont have it anymore, does not mean its worthwhile for EVERYONE!
big difference.

In America, uncharted golden abyss was retailing for $10 more. sawao_yamanaka is correct.

I've been wanting to play Wipeout 2048 and Jet Set Radio. I have Uncharted:GA and Gravity Rush, which are great games. Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack sounds a little corny, but since it's free, I might check it out.

Cloud storage is greatly needed especially if you share games with a family member. I had to delete my Batman Lego save so my daughter could access trophies on her playthrough.

Ben, you missed the most important one! FF Tactics is also part of this deal.

Because of you, I've always had an interest to try it.

I was gonna say the same thing. Ben forgot about FF Tactics. Now I can get FF Tactics on 19 for free and Persona 4 Golden on 20. Great week for RPG fans!

Awesome! The only downside to this is I'm going to have to buy a bigger memory card to accommodate the freebies.

And I have to say something because nobody else is. Gravity Rush!!! Buy PS+, get Gravity Rush for free! That game alone is worth it. Gravity Rush is my favourite game for Vita yet. Everyone who owns a Vita should try this game.

You probably already know this, oh well, you can always attempt to download them and then at the last moment cancel the download. This will make the games appear in your download list with the red Playstation icon. Even though you didn't actually download the games they will always be free to you as long as you are a PS+ member.

Also, with PS+ you can copy your saved games to the cloud and delete any games you are not playing right now and download another game from the collection you are interested in. I am looking forward to this feature as my 32GB is completely full.

Oh man, you couldn't be more correct on Gravity Rush!! Truly a great game in it's own right. Not just because of the Vita but because it would be an outstanding game on any platform. Going for the Platinum was truly difficult for me. If there is anyone with a Vita who hasn't bought this game by now you are going to be blessed on 11/20/12! I cannot imagine not paying for GR!!

So I already have plus so plus will be free on my vita too ? Or do I have to get it again on the Vita ?

Either way it's a damn good reason now to get a Vita 🙂

Unreal Sony, this is a great line up for gamers on the fence or who don't own those games. Not much excuse now to not by a Vita unless handheld gaming is not your thing. Well done!

Such an unbelievable deal. It'd be worth it for the first wave of free Vita games alone, add in the PS3 benefits and everything else that's going to come down the road and it's an absolute steal. Will be interesting to see if this pushes Vita sales up a bit. Would have to think serious gamers who weren't sure if Vita was worth it would have to reconsider now.

Also, realize I've posted this several times already, but have to reiterate — just got my Vita a couple weeks ago, absolutely love it. Highly recommend anyone who is skeptical check it out, hold it in your hands, play a game, etc. Fantastic system and well worth the investment even when considering its questionable shelf life.
