The biggest name in video games is coming to the PlayStation Vita.

That much was confirmed at Sony's E3 press conference, but more was revealed at Gamescom. In development at Nihilistic Software, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is a series installment that has been "authentically translated to handheld." As producer Neven Dravinski said (as quoted at the PlayStation Blog ):

"One of Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified’s compelling features is the fact that you can take the established gameplay everyone knows and loves and bring it to the PS Vita."

Therefore, die-hard fans can expect the standard stuff, like Create-a-Class, Perks, Prestige levels, and all working around those invaluable dual analog sticks. The game's single-player campaign includes covert missions that bridge the story gap between Black Ops and the incoming Black Ops II , and the multiplayer action will support up to 8 players on Wi-Fi.

Added Dravinski:

"We’ll have a variety of game modes and maps, including some that are custom made for PS Vita and others that leverage fan favorites from the Black Ops series, but tailor made for PS Vita."

Anything else you'd like to see come out for the Vita?

Impressive for a Vita, but not impressive enough for me to buy it overall.

Agreed. I see actual solid effort for KZ. Not quite PS3 level but acceptably nice.

Im a semi-CoD fan and this just looks bland. Where are the special effects? CoD's are ordinarily loaded with alpha transparency effects with smoke plumbs and weapon fire effects, environments draped in global lighting, and all kinds of motion with many on screen enemies. CoD' s also tend to have painstaking environmental design that make even the ordinary seem interesting. This shows none of that. This looks like something that doesn't pass for a current gen game for any platform. So far it looks like a weak sauce investment on Activision's part.

I think the goal here was just to get a game out with the CoD name on it.

haha why? I occasionally enjoy a good campaign romp of CoD, LV. It does excel in things other FPS's don't do as well. I definitely think it's more popular than it should be in light of fairness at a quality level. But I won't hate it for that. This Vita game just looks like something I'd avoid altogether, even for Wii.

HAha! One of the "compelling" features is that it's the same thing only on Vita?

Not to mention it looks like a turd sandwich.

Turd sandwich is right.

Why does this look like Resistance Retribution for the PSP? This is the Vita and yet the devs come up with this? I'll wait for Killzone.

It's the same guys that did Resistance Burning Skies.

I know it's from Nihilistic but Retribution is made by Sony Bend.

I was really looking forward to COD on the Vita but after seeing the trailer and hearing that the MP is only 4v4, I'm now on the fence.

First off the game looks like crap. I'm hoping the video is like 6 months old and it'll turn out a lot better looking. If not I can't see this getting any better in 3 months.

Also having Nihilistic developing this worries me. They have only had one game average over 70 on Metacritic and that was 12 years ago. They're a mediocre developer and I just can't understand why you would put somebody on a huge system seller game like this.

The 4v4 MP is a really big letdown in my book. I don't understand why they couldn't do at least 8v8 since it has to be over wifi anyways.

Hopefully this turns out better in the coming months but if not I'll just be saving some money.

Nihilistic? Bah, even if I liked CoD this dev would put me off. They've already abused some of PlayStation's best franchises with Heroes on the Move and Resistance: Burning Skies (judging from common consensus, not personal experience), so I see no reason to even think of supporting them. They just seem second rate through and through.

I hope it sells a lot of Vita's but that is pretty much it. It didn't look like much of a step forward from the Medal of Honour psp entries really.

The fact that Activision used Nihilistic shows they really do not support the Vita.

At least EA is trying.

In the same cloud of dust as the other CoD titles.

This isn't gonna get good reviews at all…I mean its Nihilistic after all.

Perhaps there will be COD lovers who just buy the VITA because of just another game…but if they do take a look at reviews at all…it's not gonna happen.

Unless Nihilistic somehow magically turns around and makes the game good…
