After Telltale Games made a huge splash at Summer Game Fest, re-announcing The Wolf Among Us 2 and revealing a remaster of the original game, one detail about the game was quietly revealed in an interview with Telltale Games CEO.
The interview was with CEO Jamie Ottilie, who shared a lot of information about the upcoming sequel that included a lingering question fans had long-since wondered about the game releasing in episodical format and whether or not it will be released in increments or all together, and Ottilie confirmed we will get the full game at launch.
For those who remember about the original 2013 game, it released in batches where an episode would launch and there would be a wait for the next episodes. Otillie knows very well that fans have waited long enough for this sequel to justify making them wait even longer for each episode.
The Wolf Among Us 2 has had one of the more turbulent development cycles in modern gaming history. It has been announced, then cancelled, then announced again, delayed, the list goes on. But it seems now that era of its development troubles is nearing an end as the game is set for a 2027 launch.
The Wolf Among Us is also getting a remaster that is coming this year to tide fans over until the sequel. News of this remaster circulated several months ago, but now we have the official confirmation.
Ottilie shared that while he likes the episodic format Telltale is famous for, he cannot justify making fans wait even a minute longer for the sequel.
It is good to know when The Wolf Among Us 2 is finally here, we will get the experience the full game right away, and it makes sense Telltale wants their fans to get the entire game as fast as possible to make up for the many years of it going in and out of development.
The Wolf Among Us 2, when it finally releases, will be a major success story for gaming. Showing a game with as much development turmoil as this one could still triumphantly come through and release.
