Free PlayStation App Detailed: Expand Your PS Experience

Sony is dishing out the PS4 details at a rapid clip.

They've delivered the full list of features that will be enabled with system update 1.50, which will be available on launch day. The company also announced the PlayStation App, which will be released for iOS and Android devices on November 13 in North America and November 22 in Europe. It's a free app, so download away!

The PS App can be used as a second screen for certain PS4 titles, and will grant users access to multiple PlayStation Network services. We'll be able to access our PS profile and compare Trophies with our friends, and we can exchange messages across the PS4, PS3 and Vita. We'll even be able to browse news, blogs and game details at the official PlayStation site. What a handy little app!

The second screen thing is intriguing. For supported games (such as The Playroom ), we can draw pictures on our mobile devices and then "flick" the creations onto the TV, where they will be modeled in 3D. If you want, you can spectate live and recorded PS4 gameplay via the App as well. Me, I like the idea of being able to purchase content on the go, and then coming home to have it all ready to go on the system. Now that's cool.
