Analyst: Xbox One Will Be More Readily Available This Year

It's likely that both Sony and Microsoft will have difficulty keeping up with demand this holiday season.

But one analyst believes Microsoft will do a better job delivering Xbox One's to store shelves. In a note to investors , Robert W. Baird analyst Colin Sebastian said the new Xbox may have "two to three times" more units than the PS4 available this fall.

He added that the better numbers would give Microsoft the initial edge, but that consumers should expect both systems in question to be difficult to find. Sebastian also said that things are turning around for Microsoft after they rescinded those original policies:

"Despite losing the headline battle at E3, we believe that Xbox One has regained some momentum in recent weeks, in part due to modifications in policies related to online connectivity and used games."

As for the Wii U, he believes this holiday season will make or break the console. He says Nintendo needs to issue a price cut and the holiday lineup had better be strong. If not, we could be looking at a steep decline for Nintendo's new console. In regards to the PS4 and Xbox One, nobody would be surprised if there were more Xbox systems in the US this holiday season…but what about the rest of the world?

This analyst couldn't possibly be financed by MS somehow could he? No way! No how!

Seriously, should we expect this bamboozling this upcoming generation? It was so blatant this gen it was almost sickening.

I say that that there is going to be around the same number of consoles for both systems. (Maybe a few thousand less for the Xbox One). I also think that by early December there is not going to be a single system from either company. (USA obviously)

There will be a lot more Xbox Ones because a lot fewer people will want them, and they will be cheaper-to-produce machines.

The Wii U doom and gloom is premature, people said the same things about PS3. Ninty will just slog through and survive this gen I think, they have insane amounts of money from Wii's unprecedented success.

I think it was Pachter that said Nintendo could completely bomb the next 5 generations and still stay in business they have a ton of cash in the reserves. lol
Also even without the Wii U selling well the 3DS is still flourishing.

Supply chain checks? So is it safe to say that the issues MS supposedly had with chips and other components have not only been resolved but now more advanced that the PS4? Or are short cuts being taken? I wonder if MS would survive another round of red lemons on store shelves. They couldn't be that stupid could they? Could consumers?

Well considering that people preordered after they dropped their drm, yes people can be that idiotic.

When u consider some people who bought 2, 3, 4… 360's due to RRoD, and those same people still praise MS. Then yes, consumers are stupid… and then some.

Yeah. Last I checked, MS still hadn't resolved their yield issues with their APU design, and even if they have, they would still be behind Sony in production. It's physically impossible for MS to catch up.

The only way there will be more XBones "readily available" is because no one's buying them.

Exactly what Ultima said.

Microsoft simply cannot improve their yield situation before launch.

It is physically impossible at this point for them to make more Xbox One's than PS4's. Also consider the fact that Microsoft entered production on the Xbox One a full month AFTER the PS4.

This analyst must be trolling hahaha.

The PS4 has already been rated by the FCC with no word on the Xbone. Wouldn't this mean Sony is ahead when it comes to the ability to produce consoles? I have a hard time believing Sony will let MS produce more at this point. That just wouldn't make any sense. I also believe the PS4 will release in October if they have been rated by the FCC already.

I am quite surprised that the PS4 has already gotten approved through FCC. I remember the PS3 being approved on September and then being released in November. It looks like Sony is super prepared for the PS4's launch. I won't be surprised if Sony one ups M$ by releasing the PS4 late October.

Sony started production of the PS4 console a month before MS did. If we assume their manufacturing capabilities are roughly even, then we could assume either: the PS4 will launch ahead of the Xbox, or there will be more PS4's at launch.

A lot more Xbox One consoles at a higher price. No thanks..

More consoles than Sony in a shorter amount of time kind of makes me wonder about the Xbox One's reliability.

Isn't AMD the one who really won next gen on hardware? They got their chips in all of them!

They are used to high volume production too.

i think there may bemore xb1's avalible because eveyone will already have gotten there ps4's so there won't be any left haha but maybe thats just joking but yes i highly doubt sony will want to have less ps4's avalible than xb1's i wud think they'd want more as many more and they can safely produce.

happy gaming =)

I personally believe the only way that is remotely possible is if the rumors about MS lowering system specs to increase chip yields are true. Maybe I just under estimated the level of production MS is capable of achieving. They are a multi-billion dollar company.

It's still early in the race to launch, but that's based on the Nov. release time frame. Some people think Sony may be ready for an October launch. PS4 FCC filings are already approved, months ahead of the PS3 when it was launching. Now it's really looking like the PS4 will be on store shelves before X1.

Sony is far more prepared for this generation than MS was.

I think its all PR at this point. There is enough blind loyalty to Xbox and casual gamers who don't pay attention to things like e3 that I believe the Xbone will sell well. If Sony/MS are smart, they've learned from the past and there will be some strategic shortages at launch, but stock will trickle into stores at a fast enough pace to mostly meet demand all while keeping up the hype.

Who cares?! The public will buy BOTH anyway as has happened previously.

The real reason there will be more xbones is because more people will be buying the PS4, so lower stock of available consoles

All I know is that I am purchasing both systems. I am going to keep one and sell the other for a ridiculous amount to stupid rich people on eBay. Which system I keep and which I sell has yet to be decided. I am almost thinking of just selling both for max profits and purchase systems when they are available.
