Okay, neither of those announcements will happen, but Sony is still teasing "many cool things" for the upcoming Gamescom show, which takes place in Cologne between August 21 and August 25.
Here's the Tweet that begs a host of questions and theories:
"Gamescom. Coming soon. So many cool things to tell the world. #ps4 #psvita #gc2013"
Sony has revealed big things at Gamescom in the past, so prepare yourself. I'm hoping to see more PS4 and Vita exclusives; anything else would be a letdown in my eyes. Of course, there's the popular rumor that the PS4 will land an official launch date at Gamescom, which is possible if not probable. Remember, we've still got the Tokyo Game Show in September, which may be a more fitting time for that announcement.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I want a theater mode so me and my friend can watch some anime together. Also confirming mkv would be sweet. More vitaXps4 stuff, some multi colored ps4s and more vita bundles and games!
mkv the file format? I just hope Playstation Media Server will still work on the PS4, it takes care of any and all media formats I have on my PC and I can navigate my entire file system from the PS3.
Now that I sufficiently sound like a salesman for the server, it's free. I just really like it.
I'd like some color as well but from a sales point of view it would be best to bring out color consoles one at a time for the inevitable sales spike. Living room gets black man cave gets red or blue.
GRAVITY RUSH 2 – …PLEASE LET IT HAPPEN.
Also Kingdom hearts, Yakuza, or Monster Hunter would certainly do for the VITA. AND LET IT NOT JUST BE SOMETHING ON THE PS3 ported over and all. Let it be an actual VITA exclusive!
I really hope they do a PS4+Vita bundle. *crosses fingers*
What I would love to see:
– LittleBigPlanet 3 by Sumo Digital for PS4
– Media Molecule's new PS4 title
– More interesting indie titles coming to PS4 (they confirmed at E3 there will be more)
– The Order 1886 gameplay footage
– Maybe a sneak peak/teaser for Sony Santa Monica's new title
– PS4/Vita remote play demonstration with details
– Gaikai demonstration hopefully
If Sony is able to bring even half of that to Gamescom then I'll be happy.
My dream for Tokyo Game Show though is:
– Demon's Souls 2 PS4 announcement
– The Last Guardian revealed for PS4
– New Level-5 PS4 title
If they're able to announce these three, they'll CRUSH Nintendo, Microsoft, anybody there.
Even with all of that, I counted: Sony (according to their "30 in development, 20 first year) will STILL have titles to announce (like Naughty Dog's PS4 title but they're probably saving that for Spike in November)
Hopefully some Killzone Shadowfall multiplayer.
I don't want a release date until the last possible moment. Keep MS against the ropes.
Let the competition announce their date first then cut their heads of with an earlier date.

Unless Sony can provide the Japanese market with a 2013 launch date for the PS4, I don't think they'd announce it at the TGS.
Why do I get the feeling that there will be plenty of furry and fuzzy critters (to each their own of course) but no signs of a pale skinned & rage filled death machine, a sneaky one eyed soldier or a spiky blonde haired ex-Soldier? I miss the glory days 🙁 Hows about at least a crowbar wielding scientist?
