An expansion for Layers of Fear was announced at RTX 2016 (a gaming/internet event hosted by Rooster Teeth that I had no idea existed until now…) and is going to be released August 2nd. Hey that’s my birthday! I really enjoyed Layers of Fear. It was a really nice looking game that had some really cool environmental effects that I haven’t really seen in a horror game. The environment changes so fast on you and it’s amazing. And the sound design is superb in this game.
Layers of Fear: Inheritance takes place sometime after the original game and you take control of the painter’s daughter. Apparently she must have caught her father’s insanity bug as things get a little crazy as you explore the house you grew up in. I guess having a father lose his mind can do something to a person.
As the painter’s daughter you return to your former home to discover what happened during your father’s loss of mental state as well as discover what he left for you. It’s been awhile since I’ve been excited for a DLC, but this looks pretty promising. If it’s anything like the original game it should be good.
This DLC is releasing for Xbox One, PS4 and PC on August 2nd. I know what I’m getting myself for my birthday. There is not a price point as of right now but I’m sure we’ll hear more later on. What about you guys, are you interested in this expansion? Did you play the original game? If not why?
As a side note, I wouldn’t mind writing a review for this game although it’s been out for quite some time. What do you guys think of having reviews for games that have been out for awhile? Let me know in the comments.
Oh I have to get this. This was the best horror game this year. Wish it were longer.
I'd love any reviews you'd all be willing to do. I know I said I'd do more over the summer but being Social Media Strategist for Gamer Gloves came out of nowhere and keeps me awful busy. Just had this back surgery too, GOD the pain. Not giving up on PSXE just yet, but the obstacles are tough ones.

Have a good recovery!
Hang in there man. I know what it's like to be busy. I'm not giving upon PsxExtreme either! I hope you get better soon.

Thanks fellas!
I didn't know about this game until now. I'll probably buy it soon. PlayStation 4 has been good for horror games.
Reviews are always better late than never. I always wish big game sites would visit an old game they never reviewed.
How did this game fly under the radar? Or is that only me? Also, were there any other note worthy moments from the RTX? There are so many events now and they are all competing for dominance.
I would say it more came and went really fast more then under the radar.
It's hard to keep up on all the events these days. I'm not sure what else came out of RTX to be honest. Might be worth looking into.
