Rocket League is one of the most entertaining games on the planet, regardless of whether you play 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4.
The gameplay is significantly different depending on how many of those little cars are zipping around the arena, but it sounds like we might get even more options in the future.
Developer Psyonix revealed during a recent Major Nelson podcast that they're open to the possibility of boosting the max player count. Right now, it sits at 8 (the aforementioned 4v4 craziness) but they could do more. However, they say they'd have to first introduce larger arenas, as Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham explained:
"We experimented with larger player counts but it's too crazy. Maybe one day we'll revisit it if we ever decide to go with bigger stadiums. But for now, more than 4v4 we think takes a little bit away from the enjoyment of the game; it gets a little too crazy."
This fan totally agrees. Personally, I think 4v4 is too chaotic and actually saps a lot of the strategy out of the game. Dunham added that 3v3 is the "sweet spot" for the game in question, though there are times when I even prefer 2v2 because again, strategy seems to kick in more with fewer players. If they do want to go higher than 4v4, they absolutely would need bigger arenas, no question.
Recently, Psyonix announced the end of Season 1 for competitive Rocket League entertainment; will you be participating in Season 2?

Yeah 4v4 already gets too crazy sometimes. I wouldn't mind bigger arenas for 3v3 though.
I just got the platinum for this game and deleted it of my hard drive yesterday its a good game dont get me wrong its just that the grinding to unlock everything was super boring and kinda killed it for me.
….You played this game to grind out unlockables?
I feel very sorry for you, if that is why you play games.
Its a shame you ruined one of the best couch co-op games to come out in a very very long time.
I have no idea what he's talking about either. There is barely anything to unlock, and all it requires is to play a few matches. So how can the game be fun, but grinding to unlock everything is super boring, when grinding is just playing the game, which is apparently fun, idk. I think this guy just likes to complain to the point that he doesn't even know what he's talking about. He's the type to go to an article about a game he doesn't play just to say yawn, pathetic.
Its weird the reason some people play games isn't it….
I wont if he feels the assassins creed games are grindy….?
This game's greatest component is one you didn't play: ONLINE COMPETITIVE!!!
I platinumed it long ago very simply and almost entirely from just playing with friends.
Easiest plat on PS4 for me so far by far.
Yeah I'd say the only easier plat was TWD, where you literally just beat the game once. I told Ben he was close to it last night. He needs his first plat lol.
