Report: Destiny 2 Won’t Make It This Year

Last September, some leaked court documents told us to expect a new disc-based Destiny game "every year through 2019."

Well, either Bungie is backing off from the original plan or there was some mistake.

That's because according to Kotaku , a true sequel won't make that projected September 2016 launch date. Kotaku cited sources "familiar with goings-on at the studio" and those sources claim that development plans for the game "are constantly in flux." Recently and most notably, Bungie ruled out the possibility of releasing Destiny 2 this September. Bear in mind that the 2015 court documents were based on the fact that Destiny would originally launch in 2013, which didn't happen; it was delayed to late 2014.

So, maybe that's why the sequel won't show up this year. A lot changed in the development process for the original; don't forget that Bungie claimed it would have a "rich narrative." Yeah, well, that didn't happen, did it? We did, however, get some pretty great expansions, including the gigantic one in late 2015, The Taken King .

But it does seem like we'll have to wait for a full-fledged sequel.
