It took a little time but Rock Band 4 has finally become backwards compatible.
Well, after a fashion. Nearly two months after the new entry arrived, developer Harmonix has announced that you can import the full Rock Band 3 soundtrack, much to the delight of veteran followers.
The export feature is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players, but remember that you can only import songs within the same console family; i.e., PS3 to PS4 and Xbox 360 to Xbox One. It's also only currently in place for North American gamers, as our European friends will have to wait until next week. Finally, there is a cost associated with the transfer: To get all 83 songs from Rock Band 3 , it'll cost you $15 and it has to be done via Rock Band 4 's in-game store.
You can find the exact instructions at Harmonix's website if you need help, and you can also find an updated list of all songs that can be imported into Rock Band 4 . Oh, and you have to be a verified owner of Rock Band 3 to import that soundtrack.
We also saw Guitar Hero Live this holiday season; it remains to be seen which title won the next-gen battle of the bands .
