Xboxers Revel In Holiday Rush, Sony Fans Look Toward 2016

It's pretty cut and dry, isn't it?

As of now, it really seems like Xbox One is getting a ton of attention and rightfully so.

The newly released Halo 5: Guardians is on everyone's lips, which is to be expected, and then comes Rise of the Tomb Raider . Toss in Forza 6 and you've got a trio of fantastic AAA exclusives for Xbox One this holiday season. So, it won't be any surprise if Xbox One kinda dominates headlines between now and the end of the year.

On the flip side, Sony fans have adopted the Chicago Cubs motto: "Wait 'til next year!" Of course, the difference is that the Cubs very likely will not win the World Series in 2016 while it's almost certain – to me, at least – that PlayStation 4 exclusives will dominate throughout the year and beyond. But it's interesting to see this gap: On the one hand, Xbox fans are crowing about the holiday season, hoping Xbox One can finally stomp on PS4 in most major markets. On the other hand, Sony fans are happy sitting in the wings, reveling in the PS4's large lead and just shrugging their shoulders at Xbox's brief moment in the sun.

We all know the list of exclusives coming PS4's way; it includes hopefully masterful titles like Uncharted 4: A Thief's End , Horizon: Zero Dawn , The Last Guardian , Detroit , Gran Turismo Sport and many others. But hey, maybe PS4 doesn't need them so much; the system has been winning the console war thus far without the help of huge AAA exclusives . Maybe that's why Sony followers are content with Xbox One's ownership of headlines for the next few months.

So, celebrate while you still can, Xboxers. It's a clear win for you this holiday season but after this…

I'm not one bit envious. Although to be honest I'm kind over the whole PS4 vs Xbox One and comparing each to eachother. Last generation wore me out.

Me too, I still hate Microsoft for being evil but there isn't even a competition here and I'm too exhausted to care. Sony isn't making insane moves (except not promoting Until Dawn) anymore so we can really just sit back and let the greatness roll over us with warmth as XOne fizzles.

Stole it they did. Stole a multiplatform preciousness for their lineup. Filthy rotten thievvves!

Hmmm, I disagree, what Microsoft has going is overrated. Where was Microsoft all year? It was crickets forever over there. Sony released some amazing exclusives throughout the year. Microsoft blows its load all at once. RotTR Definitive Edition will be on the PS4. Halo and Forza are old and unspectacular. There is no variety or diversity on the X1. The holiday multiplats are spectacular and will benefit the PS4. I agree with one thing that 2016 is going to be a killer year for the PS4! I just think everyone makes way to many mountains out of mole hills.

I haven't noticed.

Analysts have found that Sony's lead is only widening as time goes on.

I prefer when games are spread out throughout the year with one or two big ones at Christmas.

Having every best game release at the same time takes away from the joy of playing them.

CoD and Fallout 4 are coming out, I really don't have the time to invest in Halo 5 multiplayer or TR.

Doesn't matter. Let the 12m xboxers enjoy their exclusives while the 23m and growing ps4 owners enjoy the multiplats this holiday season. Like Fallout 4, Battlefront and Black ops 3.

Also, why isn't it next week yet?

Fallout 4 will be the last game i buy this year (due to lack of time and funds) but if its all its promising to be, fallout will be all i need for months to come. 2016 will be great.

Whatever happens with Microsoft and their exclusives, you can bet that their PR department will be spinning away with buzzword filled statements (IE: Halo 5).

Absolutely true since the Jays will be winning the WS next year.

Obviously nowhere near the drought the Cubs have, but still a drought. 22 years for the 10th highest payroll is enough, I say!

Sorry to disappoint you but The Yankees will be taking next year inching closer to 30 world series titles.

Nah, they need a shuffle year (perhaps 2 but unlikely) of change to really contend.

Oh, nice! A fellow Jays fan!

Don't you think everyone is making such a big deal about AA leaving? This definitely won't be as an excited off season as last year, but I hope Shapiro gets some decent pitching. (not like he has much else to do regarding this teams 25 man).

With basically their entire offence sticking around after being far and away the number one offensive team in almost every category, yeah for sure. Pitching is the number one thing to be addressed, I agree. It'll be interesting to see if they can land Price. I think they have to because I'm not sure there are many other FA options that are a good fit, and our trade power is a little on the weakside now, but not demolished. (Can't trade a guy like EE easily, for example, since he has 10-5 rights)

Estrada just got a QO, which is a win-win for the Jays. 1 year at 15 mil is doable, and if he turns it down, they get a draft pick from whoever picks him up. And since he was a top ranking pitcher last year, there's an excellent chance it's a 1st rounder, too. So if he accepts, great. If he doesn't, great. Buehrle is likely retiring, so there's 20 mil off the books in addition to the surplus from last year to play with. Dickey's option was picked up and they still have Osuna, Sanchez, and Stroman all making league minimum along with Cecil still under contract. A couple holes to fill, no doubt, but they'll be contenders again, for sure.

As for AA leaving, that's not such a big deal. He did a great job this year and at getting rid of cancerous contracts (Reyes, Wells for example), but he's not the god everyone makes him out to be.

I know, right? Like, why would companies wanting market share in the same industry want to jostle or create brand loyalty within the market?

Insane!

With so many great games to play who has the time to think about what other console owners are enjoying?

I'm going to enjoy Tomb Raider for PS4 (whenever that is) as much as any XB1 this holiday season. Not to mention that it'll probably run better on PS4 and may come will all downloadable content.
