Well, looks exactly like Bayonetta to me.
One of the most well-received announcements at E3 2015 was the unveiling of a Nier sequel , with the caveat that the action experts at PlatinumGames were working on it (the original development team, Cavia, is no more).
Now, we've got the full name, a bunch of character and story information, and the first gameplay video; you can find it all over at the PlayStation Blog . The new effort is called Nier: Automata and it will land on PlayStation 4 in 2016. The new main character appears to be female but in point of fact, she's not actually human. They say her name or serial number is 2B and she's an android with a lot of dazzling combat skills. This particular android isn't allowed to have emotions, by the way.
Click through the link above to read more about the story, if you like. Personally, I think dropping what amounts to no more than a combat drone into the sequel, and apparently fixating entirely on the combat (which is precisely what I've been worried about ) is a terrible idea. I see nothing here that even hints at role-playing but…well, it's Platinum. The first game was an action/RPG, people.

I never played the first Nier when it came out on PS3, but this one looks awesome!
Check it out, it's better than what most reviews say. It has an amazing soundtrack and an interesting story. Sure it's rough around the edges but you'll enjoy the ride.
Just like Ben, i'm a little bit worried about Platinum handling this game. Sure the combat side's gonna be awesome but i don't wanna lose the melancholic ambiance through the story of the first game. That's what made this game special for me.
I'll keep the faith!
I love the first game. Sad to see the developer close. This sequel will most likely suck in my eyes. The last thing the series needed was more action.
Combat looks like a more fast paced Nier to me.
It really is a shame about Cavia, love their games. At least Platinum really knows their action, this will probably have the best combat of the franchise if you consider it a spin-off of Drakengard. Unfortunately everything else will probably be disappointing.
I have to disagree, this game looks like a sped up NIER combat wise.
NIER had a very interesting and varied combat engine, with elements of bullet hell shooters thrown in there. This looks to be very similar.
Ben go to youtube and search up any original NIER trailer that isn't for the japanese replicant version and they are all action focused.
So drawing conclusions based off of this trailer is kind of jumping the gun.
Also NIER is an action game first in its gameplay and an RPG second. Its RPG mechanics are very shallow, dodging well and upgrading one weapon from the spear class is enough to get through the game. I literally just played through the game and it is more of an action game than I think you remember.
Sure it isn't Platinum games level of action but still, I think if the story is good in this game and there is some decent exploration we will get a worth sequel to NIER, although one without that mind F^#$ of a twist.
Why is everyone here so worried?
It has the same director, writer and composer as the first game. This mixed with Platinum's gameplay might make this one of my favorite rpgs in a while.
I have no idea to be honest. I think a lot of people haven't played the first NIER in a while. IT is very action oriented, the RPG mechanics take a back seat, I played through it in the summer.
