One of the year's biggest games comes out this week but that isn't swaying most of our readers.
In our recent poll, we asked if you plan to pick up Assassin's Creed Syndicate this week; it launches on Friday. As it turns out, no, most of you aren't interested at all.
We've seen reviews run the gamut from 4 to 9 , so one could say there's a hung jury concerning the critical reception at this point. Recently, Digital Foundry discovered that the PS4 version outperforms its Xbox One counterpart , but that's probably not enough to convince non-fans to make the purchase. Some critics say this is exactly what the franchise needed; others say the opposite. Bizarre.
Anyway, this week, we wonder if you think Sony should entertain the possibility of producing a more powerful PS4 . Do you think it would be a good move, producing a better-performing console that would cost more? Or is that just way too PC-like for you?
I would probably enjoy AC, but I'm probably not going to buy it.
As far as the reviews are concerned, this caught my eye when Knack was getting the same type of reception. Some thought it was great, others thought it wasn't. It's becoming more clear reviews are too opinionated and focus solely on the subjective nature.
I'm not participating in the poll because it doesn't address a more appropriate answer. I would purchase a more powerful PS4 but only because I would want the better console. However it's extremely risky and they shouldn't alienate consumers. Another reason I would buy one. At some point I imagine I'd have to. That's one of the major problems. It also would be a nightmare for developers.
If this "power" is only to increase UI and apps performance it is Ok.
But I cant imaginé a game that can be played on the PS4-2 but not the original.
That would be PS5
The last one I bought was black flag. Still haven't finished it. This is always how it ends. I buy an AC game, play about 60% and rarely pick it up again. I'm done with this franchise.
It's too big to succeed. That's how I am with Elder Scrolls, but I do enjoy them anyway.
It's not even that it's too big. GTA5 and MGS5 are arguably bigger. Both which I completed to near 100%. And I'm still playing MGS5. AC along with most Ubisoft games get incredibly boring. It consists of capture this tower, unlock new territory, rinse and repeat. All of their games share this formula and none of them have the fantastic gameplay, graphics or characters that both GTA5 and MGS5 have to keep me immersed to the finish let alone to keep me playing after I beat it.
AC has been "awful" even since the ending of AC3. Connor was a terrible attempt at a multicultural character and the game was disappointing really. As a result my interest in the series came to a complete stop. Black Flags pirates theme was lost on me and Rogue was stuck on the PS3 when I no longer owned one.
Unity was surprisingly enjoyable, but it was free as well so idk my true consumer opinion. But I had fun as a gamer. So I might give Syndicate a chance when it goes on sale, but not really feeling the setting or style of this game just like Black Flag
I'm probably in the minority here but I'm enjoying the new entry so far. And iv enjoyed previous entries also. Only one i wasn't a fan of was AC3.
Funny that this one kinda interests me.
I think PS4 should be monolithic, you can't have people upgrading every 6 months or year or you turn into Apple and then software comes out that base systems won't play etc.
I'll be waiting a week or two after AC's release date. There's always bugs that the general public find out about well after reviews hit.
I'm not taking chances with their history.
I want to play AC Syndicate but I can wait a few months.
New copies will be half price in no time.
I'm done paying full price for these games, too many other good games coming out this fall.
