Ben-DutkaDuring the Tokyo Game Show last week, Sony confirmed a PS4 price cut for Japan.
Now, one Microsoft boss fully expects Sony to cut the price of the PlayStation 4 in the U.S. He didn't say exactly when that price drop will happen but it sounds like he's talking about this holiday season.
This is what Xbox One boss Phil Spencer told IGN :
"I fully expect they [PlayStation] will drop price. When I think about the playbook they've used in the past, we feel good about the plans we have in place going forward in the holiday. If history tells, then we'll see a price drop from them coming."
Spencer added that price competition is good for the industry, as he cited last holiday, when "we saw crazy sales numbers on all of the consoles." Very true but one thing I don't quite get is his citing "history." …what history? When was the last time Sony and Microsoft were in this position? I don't recall a time when a PlayStation console was outselling a cheaper Xbox console at this pace and honestly, there may be no reason for Sony to drop the PS4 price this holiday.
However, with games like Rise of the Tomb Raider , Halo 5: Guardians and Forza 6 hitting Xbox One, maybe Sony should do it.
The only system seller would be Halo. Nobody buys the Xbox brand to play Forza and it's a fluke Tomb Raider is being timed exclusive. Whatever Sony does, it won't change much in the grand scheme as far as the Xbox is concerned.
Word has it that TR will have several sequels this gen and MS has first dibs on all of them.
Not that I think that'll change the sales war much but just that TR is pretty much MS's this gen
There are enough deals and bundles that doesn't really warrant a price drop. Sony would be fine either way.
I hope Sony cut the price of ps4, ps4 is so damn expensive here in asia…

The price cut is just Japan so far.
Sony should do something the lack of exclusives suck for them. Im playing Forza 6 on my xbox 1 and its leaps and bounds over driveclub. And i got my xbox 1 for rise of the tomb raider so i dont have to wait a year. And of course halo 5. Failboys thumb down 😉
