It's disappointing but hardly unexpected.
Many are anxiously awaiting the arrival of what Konami is calling "Metal Gear Online 3," the online component for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain .
The game is still scheduled to arrive on September 1 but Konami has announced that the online portion won't be available until October 6 on consoles. PC players get the short end of the stick, as multiplayer action won't be available on that platform until January 2016. The only good news is that the PC version of MGSV will now release on the same day as the console versions; it was previously scheduled for September 15.
Not really sure why this happened but hey, MGS is supposed to have a stellar narrative so I'm sure we'll all be satisfied with the campaign. In the meantime, here's some customization info for the multiplayer fun.

I think with a game like this no one will mind. After all I imagine most people buy MGS games for the story. Let's just hope MGSV's multiplayer launch goes better than GTAV's…what a mess that was.
While the multiplayer adds more replay value I would gladly play the game twice before playing multi-player.
I played The Last of Us and Uncharted 3 and didn't even touch multi-player.
Delaying the multi-player will boost review scores. I guess developers are learning from Rockstar's move with GTA5's decision.
Edit: This is a series that is only possible because of Kojima and his team and not because of Konami. From what I have read, Konami treats their employees like crap. This is the last Konami game that I purchase and probably the last game that Kojima will be involved in.

I'm just hoping we don't have to sign up for a damn Konami account and keep it unified with PSN. That was my primary turn-off to MGS4's multiplayer.
I'm crossing my fingers that they ditched that abomination, please do not make us use a konami account and just use the psn.
well we can't say that its not disapointing but its also not etirely surprising considering the delay trend as of this gen
happy gaming
Now we can enjoy the story and single player without distraction…
No matter. I won't be playing MP anyway. It's just not my thing in these kind of games.
I dont care. Konami is dead to me and so is this game
I'm sorry for you, throwing away one of the best games of the generation, only because the Konami vs Kojima issue.
It just seems you are not big enough fan of the series. Then that's fine – you don't have to excuse yourself.
That's a tad disappointing. Had so much fun with MGS4 multiplayer that I was looking forward to this one. Oh well the campaign will hold me
