I really don't know what to say.
Square Enix, do I love you again? I think I might just.
During Sony's E3 press conference tonight, the ultimate reveal has taken place: Final Fantasy VII remake! And it's coming to PlayStation 4 first, which does imply it's a multiplatform project (perfectly fine with me), and we don't have any gameplay or a release date. The CGI trailer they showed off proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Square Enix has remade this RPG classic from the ground up. Looks wow .
I just have one problem left: If they effed up the gameplay; if they turned it real-time, I'm just going to go jump off a bridge. I'd imagine they can't possibly screw things up that badly (hell, offer a real-time option if you want, but do not eliminate the classic gameplay). But you never know.
I'm petrified to find out.

Of course the first time I talk about Shenmue at all in years is me saying two days ago we have to give up on ever seeing Shenmue III, so of course it gets announced tonight.

Just kidding of course, and that's not *quite* the whole truth. I certainly didn't expect it this year, but I absolutely did think this would happen some day because the fan demand (read: fan dollars) has been too much to ignore. I think it only took this long for SE to announce it because of the FF XIII quagmire — they created far more assets than they could possibly use in a single game, hence the XIII sequels nobody asked for, because they needed and wanted to ensure a maximum return on their work. With that finally off the table, they can divert some attention to this.
It's years away — if we get this in time for the 20th anniversary of the original FF VII I'll be thrilled and surprised — but it warms my black heart to know this is finally happening. MUCH more to say about this, but I'll sprinkle it out in different comments and threads over the days, weeks, months and years to come :):):)
Well, Beam, let us just hope it works for Half Life 3, too. Then I'll be 3 for 3!

Even with a Crisis Core or Type-O direction, I just can't see this not being insanely fun.

I never gave up, but they definitely caught me off guard. Looking forward, that was one of the best cinematic trailers I've ever seen.

It was hard to keep my composure while watching the reveal I the middle of my busy office lunch room.
Damned allergies acted up RIGHT when the opening theme music started 🙂 I was shouting out to no one in particular as I watched "No way… no WAY… NO WAY!!!" I've never been more surprised or thrilled by a game announcement in my life, and I can't imagine I ever will be again.

I HAD to come out the woodworks for this. I still find it hard to believe, all I can say is wow…..hell yeah!!

When we saw that Lifestream flowing from the mainscreen – E3 2015 Sony Conference | Never Forget.
I knew when those green strings of energy were dancing around each other… we all did. We felt it.
Brothers, the hype has killed me. I'm now but a single ethereal being floating through the Lifestream.
My friend watching with me kept doubting during the trailer. But never doubt that music, that playground with the kids in the slums, that Lifestream.
My mood has just dramatically changed from yesterday's Game of Thrones episode. I need to go see the trailer right now!
One word. Resurrection.
That's exactly what I thought. After losing favorite characters in one of the most depressing episodes of an already infamously bleak series, all this resurrection on the gaming front is really helping my mood.
He won't stay dead. The background story of this show revolves around him, every other major characters death served a purpose, his LIFE is the only thing that serves the story.

It's going to take a little while to digest this year's E3 but it's on pace to by my personal all time best! Seriously ! There is so much to take in. If nothing else… FFVII!!

I was surprised by this. I may just forgive SE as well, provided they don't screw this up.
The gameplay doesn't need updated, just the graphics. Though I'm sure SE will update the gameplay which will turn most of us longtime fans off to the remake.
Yeah the gameplay absolutely should remain the same. I am okay with them adding about a dozen different animations for the same move though.

So this balances the timed exclusivity of Tomb Rider, well done Sony.
hmmm. Tomb Raider was to balance MS's lack of an Uncharted style game.
Doesn't make much sense because Sony gonna get Tomb Raider too, the balance I was saying was about timed exclusive vs another timed exclusive.
Now in this trade of blows Sony won the upper hand.
I lost my mind when they announced it. Couldn't believe it untill the very end. I cannot wait.

Well I wasn't speechless. I'm actually kinda glad the neighbors didn't complain, I was screaming at the top of my lungs. And if they do mess up, I'll be right there on that bridge too. But we can still hope. They said they'd learned from Bravely Default, and it was pretty obvious they couldn't change FFXV to reflect that by this point. Just gotta stay positive.
So I guess we'll have to wait until PS5? =P
