Metal Gear Solid will always be awesome but let's face it, the style and gameplay found in earlier installments doesn't exist anymore.
Developer Mike Bithell ( Thomas Was Alone ) used games like Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty as inspiration in the creation of his new game, Volume , which is coming to PlayStation 4, Vita, and PC on August 18.
As Bithell says on the Euro PlayStation Blog , Volume utilizes old-school stealth techniques in a slick sci-fi (almost "Tron"-like) environment. And he even managed to get "Lord of the Rings" actor Andy Serkis (Gollum) to voice a villain named Guy Gisborne in the game. Said Bithell:
"We'd been looking for an actor to play Gisborne for a while, and even come close to casting it with different folks. After one of those attempts fell through, it was a back-to-the-drawing-board moment, and I decided to stop compromising, and go for my dream actor for the role–who I'd get if practicality and reality weren't an issue."
If Volume turns out to be as quirky and inventive as Thomas Was Alone , I'm in.
